Breathing trouble

Hello all! New to the forum, let me explain my problem. I have a 2-year-old black tri male, fixed, that has..... I guess I would call it panic disorder. Whenever he gets in a stressful situation (and stressful to him could be anything from traveling in my car to not getting the toy he wants), he starts wheezing terrible, his tongue turns blue, and he can't breathe right for a few days. I was told that he could develop esophageal problems later in life. I don't want that obviously, does anyone have any pointers to try before opting for done kind of surgery? I would appreciate all opinions in this matter

Hi and welcome..... could be his palate needs to be reduced. it is very common in Bulldogs -- have your vet evaluate him and determine if that is the issue

The tongue turning blue is so scary. Hopefully his vet can get him fixed up.

Talked to his vet before they went home for the night. Apparently my vet doesn't do that procedure, but I was recommended to a different veterinary clinic and we're going for a consult Monday morning. Any clues add to the price range of this surgery?

The surgery will help him so much, and I hope you feel comfortable with the referred vet. Lola has hers done when she was two. Her tongue turned blue and I will never forget that day, ever. We live in Toronto AND were referred to the emergency vet clinic because they are the best specialists in town, so our prices are inflated for real. We paid about $2000 for the elongated palate, trimming the saccules in the throat, and the widening of the nostril nares. Small price to pay for Lola's airway being open in my opinion. If you dont have insurance yet, maybe get it, but only if a vet has never even mentioned the word elongated palate or breathing issue or anything that might make this condition 'pre'existing'

please get it done before the heat hits too!! that last summer with Lola before her surgery was the worst! I worried so much....
