We just got our male 3 weeks ago, when we seen his sister was looking for a foster home we inquired with the breeder and they brought her over the following week. They are going to breed her so they own her but we get to love and raise her. When Bonnie came to us she was on amoxicillin for some little sores around her underbelly, they said after she pees it gets trapped in the folds and just need to keep her dry...after a few days and nights, I noticed when she went pee it was very little, seemed like she went often, and her bedding was wet every night even though we were on a strict schedule of taking pups out every 2 to 2 and a half hours all through the night. we took her to the vet to get checked, vet said keep her clean and dry keep an eye on her for the next two weeks...we have now got her in diapers for sleeping as she just seems to pee while she is sleeping(we still are on a night schedule ). We went to vet for vaccination and took urine it's not a UTI but blamed bacteria in urine on my container.. Any one else have this type of issue with leaking and wetting at night? p.s we have gotten a handle on her sores bathing cleaning drying and using Mecca and bag balm.

Thanks...I am a little baffled, not sure if it's a sign of something more serious. My husband says if she doesn't grow out of it or get better he is worried about the breeders breeding her...Bonnie and Clyde are 11 weeks old now...we feel so bad for Bonnie.

Yes that is them in the avatar...like I said we don't agree either , I don't think the breeders will if there is any risk to her. My challenge right now is keeping her diapered ...I have disposables, small and medium reusable diapers with pads, I have modified them ..trying to figure out the best way to keep her and her create dry...think I need clips and thought of putting a shirt on her clipping the diaper to that so they don't slip off her little fat bum.

Have you checked out "Mickey the bulldog and padded bum crew" on FB, they have some type of clips they attach to their harnesses to keep the diaper up:) I hope its nothing serious going on with Bonnie:( I don't have any experience in this either but my Joey started leaking pee after I put virbac tick and flea collar on her... it was horrible, I was so sad for her. Luckily it went away only a couple of hours after I took the collar off and gave her a bath.

I did not see where you mentioned how this pup does during the day-or did I miss it? As for keeping her dry-diapering her would be making her sleep in a wet diaper, which would cause more bacteria. How clean was the container that you brought the urine sample in? How could the vet tell the bacteria from the container and not the urine? Aside from these questions-do you have any kind of contract with this breeder. Sounds like a risky arrangement to me. Take is from many years of experience, YOU will wind up the one with a broken heart-do not put your trust in someone's word. No matter how nice OR honest they seem..........

She definitely has a problem and needs to be taken to a specialist to see what is causing it. If it is something genetic, then she should be spayed and not breed.

I think I remember reading another thread like this a long time ago and that puppy ended up having spinal nerve issues. As for the comment about not diapering, babies are diapered and that doesn't cause infections and most diapers even cloth are good about keeping the moisture away from the skin. However leaving a puppy in a wet bed or puddle of urine will cause skin infections not to mention be a huge hassle ever time she sleeps. Keep the diapering up.

All great info...Bonnie does leak during the day, we do make sure she is changed and agree she shouldn't be sitting in it, always cleaning her, up every 2-3 hrs at night taking her out (and Clyde ) and fresh diaper...I agree on the container issue, I will pick up something to make sure it is sterile and get her tested again. I too am thinking something spinal and nerve, but can it be so mild to only affect the passing of urine, no bowel weakness, no other signs ...just peeing little bits and dribbling. Thank you all again the info and feedback is great. I planned on our bullies for two yrs learning as much as I could and preparing for the day we had our pups, I was prepared for the health issues , just wasn't aware of incontinence . Just want her to be ok. Oh we do have a contract with the breeder, but they said if there was any risk to her they wouldn't breed her...the reason they foster is certain townships have by laws on how many dogs you can have so they foster along with the ones they raise and work closely with other breeders in the area and are in good standing with the CKC.
