Sliver removal?

Hi all!

Quick question - has anyone ever tried to remove a sliver from their bullies paws? I believe Wilbur has a small sliver in the soft fur/skin on the underside of his back paw - not in the paw pad but between it. He keeps licking it, but otherwise seems unaffected. Is this something that will work itself out? I think of when I have a sliver and OUCH!

Wondering if this is something anyone has attempted on their own, did it resolve by itself, or is this a vet visit?

I don't think it would cause any harm to try and take it out. I know when I get a splinter it hurts like heck sometimes until it's taken out.
