I started Brutus on zyrtec almost a week ago and his eyes are still pretty wet. It looks like it is starting to irritate his skin. Any suggestions? He doesn't seem to bothered by it.

Hmm that's weird… does it itch him at all? I would say it was allergies, but it seems like it's irritation from the discharge

It only took a couple of days for the redness to go down, he still had discharge though but I think that was because of the entropion.

gotta tell you.... I just love those ears! he is so darn cute and innocent looking.

Zrytec should have kicked in and lessened the watering by now. strange, but we are about to get another cold wave wonder if the tearing stops with the freeze again?

If it's not bothering him I would wait… I know you've had your share of vet visits lately. I would just wipe it down a couple times a day, keep giving him the Zyrtec and see what happens.

Have you had him checked for entropion?

No but the vet looks at his eyes. He has had cherry correction in both eyes. Would the vet have noticed it then? Is it a special examine or can he see it upon normal examination?

I dunno.... Those are incredibly wet. If you have a flashlight to shine ( I use a pen light and open up the eye lids to see if there is any hairs or something else). Otherwise I'd certainly take him in to have them checked just in case there is hairs rubbing against his eyes. Usually that causes the leaky eye problems, allergies do as well but this way you could rule that out.

Ok I checked his eyes with a flashlight and is it possible that he doesnt have lower lashes? He has had cherry eye surgery on both eyes. I dont see lower lashes on either eye. Top ones look normal.

It looks to me like irritation from the leaky eyes, Vegas gets the same exact thing when his allergies are flaring up, I just wipe them several times a day and try to put desitin on the red parts to keep the wetness from aggravating his skin.
