Hello,

I am new here and I havent had a chance to introduce my self or my babies yet, But I promise this ill be my next step.

Right now I am dealing with a problem after the nostril surgery.

A quick history. Diesel is 3,5 years old boy who I just recently rescued. He had a bad cork screw tail what needed to be removed. We drove 2h to UGA in GA to get it done by the bests. The amazing vet sugested to do the soft palate surgery as well the nostril. All went well and I could get him back home after 3 days. He is doing amazing but sadly he licks his nose and today, a week after the surgery his nose is bleeding. What do I do??? How do I keep him from licking it? Anybody had this problem???
I was looking for my discharge papers and I can not find them. I have a feeling that my 2 year old two legged son hid it from me somehow , so no I am really starting to worry as I can not recall what it said in them!!!!

Thanks
Karolina

If it is not bleeding too bad, I would not worry about it. It should be fine.

Well it looked red and "raw" yesterday and today I did have to wipe the blood off of it. I used a soft baby wash cloth. Since then it wasn't bleeding anymore but it's still looking "raw"

Hello and welcome to EBN!

My Frenchie did the same thing with his nares surgery, it will heal up just fine. A little blood here and there and it looked ripped open/raw for a day or two, but it all closed up nicely and you can not tell at all.

Thank you all so much! Actually he looks a lot better today. I really got a scare last night with that blood. But today is all nice and dry . The stitches are still in there too. So thats good.

Thank you again!

Ugh I am drawling out again. The vet who did diesels surgery, she is 1 1/2h away and I really do not want to drive there for her to tell me I am over reacting. So the bleeding is totally gone but now he has some buggers looking things all over. Is that normal??? Looks also like has a scab on top?

There is no red or bloody or raw like it was a week ago. I am not sure if this is normal that a scab is forming or not

Yeah... Seems normal to me, as long as it is clear there is no infection, I would just pat it dry and put some neosporian on it
