Unhappy Throwing up,bleeding and so red :(

Hey guys, I'm sorry I post with so many random things about stanlee it's just that I'm a new mommy and I'm just unsure at this point on what to do.

When I first got stanlee he was ok but I noticed hair loss and very red skin,my bulldog specialist vet said that most white bulldogs had pink skin and the hair loss was Stan shedding his puppy coat,I was relieved but after a few more weeks it just did not seem right to me. It was a Sunday when I saw him in the sunlight and decided I was comfortable just leaving him looking like that and I took him somewhere for a second opinion, turned out to be demodectic mange which I just finished treating him with the ivermicin and 2 baths a week. He couldn't handle the shampoo and started getting scabs and bleeding pretty bad, which I was told were the mites coming up,then upon reading about the shampoo it clearly states to discontinue use if skin irritation occurs. I stopped using the shampoo and my vet gave me hylyte a different one.

So stanlee had started to look a lot better and he went in for a second scrape and no sign of mites. Tonight he threw up a little bit and then I noticed another spot where he is bleeding today and he's just so red in the eyes and face area.

This is all very devastating for me because stanlee is all I've got and I don't want him to be in any pain or uncomfortable or even worse for his health to be at risk.

My my bulldog specialist is not a bad guy but I feel like he sees stanlee and assumes everything is fine and if I tell him something might be wrong he dismisses it. I'm just so unsure about how to handle this and give him the life he deserves.

How old is he? I would maybe be concerned that he also has allergies.

It could be that your vet may consider the problems your facing to be "just a bulldog", but it also important to identify the root cause of the problems, instead of just medicating the problems.

Aww, it's hard when our babies isn't well I'm also thinking some kind of allergy? It seems like white bulldogs tend to be more sensitive Maybe a different kind of food would sort his problems out. I'm currently busy switching our dogs to a different food as Bennie (white male bulldog) sometimes gets burstings in his skin that starts to bleed. In his case it's a bacteria that a specific bird here in South Africa carries and dogs can get it if their immune system isn't strong enough He doesn't have any burstings right now as I bath him with a special shampoo but like desertskybulldogs says it's better to find a permanent solution than to medicate the problem What is Stanlee eating?

It's sad your vet doesn't have more sympathy for your worries, it comes across as a bit arrogant to me

He is on a grain free gluten free diet. I feed him nature variety instinct, venison flavor. He gets fresh apples and frozen green beans as treats but he has been eating an authority chicken banana treat and the ingredients are just the chicken and banana.

Cut the treats for a few weeks and see if you can see any improvement ,if not try amd change the food ,it could also be environmental allergies -and allergy teat would show what hes allergic too -i hope your boy feels better soon xx
You be surprised what they can be allergic to

His food seems really good but I guess he can still be allergic to something in it I have no experience in doing allergy tests on dogs but I've done one myself and that wasn't a big deal so there should be good tests for dogs too that can show IF he is allergic to anything... so you don't have to guess and change things for nothing. I know banana can give humans an itchy mouth and I've read of dogs on here not doing well on chicken. It can also be detergent or something else in his surroundings. Shame, I hope he feels better soon<3

Where are you in CO.? I think you need to find a new vet to get a second opinion.... If you are OK telling us the town you are in/near someone may be able to give you a recommendation

Ya I would get a second opinion, especially if no vet has mentioned allergies yet. Did they rule out allergies? Geno had bald patches for awhile in his early years, food change fixed it. Good luck to you.
RIP Fonzi- Mommy and Daddy miss you!

HI there. So sorry you're going through this. Where in Colorado are you at? I have an excellent vet, a bulldog specialist, that's off of Holly & Arapahoe. Homestead Animal Hospital, Dr. Geiselhardt.

I agree with everyone here. It could be food. I have a 98 % white EB and he has been suffering dog food allergy for a long time. The challenge of finding the right food for him has been a long journey. Having a white bully, their allergies are more evident. I had tried the NVI but I found that the protein was too high for him and he was gassy. Maybe start looking for another brand of food.
