Hi, Paul. My Dozer is the king of sock eaters, he has swallowed 4 socks and a dish cloth in the past 2 years. We've been really lucky I that he's been able to either throw them up, or poop them out. 3 of the socks we didn't even know he had swallowed them, one he threw up, the second one made him sick, he showed signs of obstruction which are diarrhea, vomiting, drooling water from the mouth, and lethargic behaviour. We brought him to the vet, and they did X-rays, which showed a shadow in his intestine, but we didn't know what he had swallowed. They gave him IV fluids, pain medications, and a laxative, and that night he was able to poop it out. Just keep an eye on him, and check his poop every time, you have to become a poop CSI agent. It could take a week or more for him to pass it. The last sock Dozer ate, I saw him do it, so knew to watch him, and look for it. He swallowed a sock that my grandson had left on the couch. It took a whole month for him to throw it up. The whole time he didn't show any signs of illness, he ate, drank and played normal, and then one morning at 5:30 am , he threw it up in his crate. I hope he is okay, and is able to pass the piece of antler, but if he shows any signs of obstruction, a visit to the vet would be a good idea.

Paul, we know you're a great bully Dad, these slow bullies are lightening quick
when they want/need to be Feed more bread and call your Vet if you see the
signs of obstruction (told above) or Dooley seems in pain~restless, pacing, whining.
I will hold Dooley close in prayer that he pukes/poops it out. You're going to have to
do poop patrol, plastic bags on hands & stick to poke thru the stuff looking for it, Ick
Sending you strength, peace & hugs of comfort...hang in there, dear friend!

@Blueberrys Mom just went through this with a squeeker.... bread and water to help it pass, keep an eye on change in behavior or illness (vomit, change) and indication of those, get him to the vet for a check/x-rays

My girl ate a stone and we had no idea... she had no change in her eating, drinking , not vomit... all was good except her attitude. Not that Banks does have MASSIVE attitude any way, it was just multipled a few levels Took her in cause I knew she was in some type of pain... low and behold there was a 2 inch stone in her belly that she could not pass

Yep, I just went through this with a squeaker.

My vet said to give him lots of bread and canned pumpkin (not the pie filling, just pure pumpkin aka squash) to help it pass. Also said if he starts to vomit, take him right in.
It took 2 1/2 days for it to pass.

When he swallowed a chicken wing bone, she was more concerned because it could splinter in the stomach. The antler shouldn't splinter, but if it has a sharp edge, that could be a concern.
I would call the vet and see what they have to say.

Blue did the same thing with the chicken wing bone. I put my hand in his mouth to get it out, so he decided to swallow it! These bullies- wow, must wow.

All you guys are making me feel better about this situation. As much as I hate to say this, I am glad Im not alone in this process. I have been watching every bowel movement like a hawk and so far everything seems normal. How much bread should I be giving him? He is on cloud nine right now because he got 2 slices of bread last night and two more this morning. He thinks its a treat.
As for the bone, one end was rounded down but the piece that broke off may have had a sharp edge to it. This is what worries me. We will just have to wait and see.

    Update:
Just inspected Dooley's poop since he went twice now since 5pm today. The first BM appeared to look normal but had a maroonish streak in it. The last one just now had a couple red specks in it and was soft serve consistancy. I can't tell if its blood or not. He seems as tho nothing is wrong and running around a mad man with two different toys in his mouth. But we will be making a trip to the vet in the morning.

The soft serve could be from all the bread. Hopefully the streaks aren't blood.
    Keep us updated.

I too, am continuing to pray but think a trip to the vet is in order. Maybe
take a sample poo with red specks in it to check for blood. I just don't
know if it's dissolvaeble...if not and it doesn't cause blockage it can still
create issues like necrosis of the colon.

Paul, I'm glad you're taking Dooley to see the vet today. And I agree with others…take a sample of the poo with the red specks in for them to look at. Keep us posted on your sweet Dooley!
