Blue swallowed a squeaky from his Kong Chase-it cat. He's not having a problem breathing, but I'm wondering if I can give him something to induce vomiting? I'm hoping he can throw it up..

Thanks.
Just called and left a v/m for my vet. This happened a little over an hour ago. Still hoping he can vomit it up.

Hydrogen peroxide can be used but with caution, inducing vomiting can also cause aspiration. I'm not sure how much I think it was just a tsp , but I would personally do this at a vets office since they are open rather than at home.

I'm trying to think who it was who did this before on the forum for a sock... Was it Sheena?

Yeah, thought there's a chance he may aspire if I tried it at home. oh god.. I'm so nervous right now. Gonna wait until my vet calls back and see what she says.

As long as he has is not having trouble breathing and looks relaxed, I would not induce vomiting as this might cause more harm. Wait and talk to you vet. you might have to watch his poop for a few days. Keep us posted .

Please don't panic… as long as he's NOT having trouble breathing I wouldn't worry. Our Bella swallowed a HUGE chunk of rawhide, a decorative starfish, and a live baby bird one time… I almost had a heart attack and she was fine. I'm sending prayers & lots of hugs to you!!! It will be okay!!! Now that I think of it I HAVE dealt w/this before, but our vet just told me to watch her to see if she had trouble eating or pooping...

OMG! Don't panic, I will panic for you. Did the vet call back yet?? I'm with everyone else, wait to see what they say as long as he is not in distress. I would think about googling the nearest emergency vet just in case.

Thanks everyone.

His vet hasn't called back yet -but he's acting normal so I guess I'm just going to watch him for the next few days. Should I be concerned if he's fine but doesn't pass it right away? I mean how long is it acceptable to wait?
brutus77 yep! I have the number of the nearest 24/7 emergency vet clinic here. Hoping I never need to use it though.

I'm thinking that it would take at least a couple of days for him… Bella didn't throw up that baby bird for a week!!! And she acted fine, I was watching her like a hawk...
