Smelly

Hercules just recently has been having this very fishy and gross smell coming from his rear end. I lifted up his tail a bit and saw that it's red in color. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for or what the signs are to what's going on. He will be going to the vet on Friday. What should I expect to hear, is this thing common?

Or his anal glands need expressing ,sorry we gont have tail pocket and in my dogs fishy smell is associated with anal glands expression x

If it's red there's bacteria and yeast, cleaning it with malacetic or douxo wipes may make it better, don't use baby wipes alone as it will only add to the problem by adding moisture to it. A vet trip may be needed if it doesn't improve. I use malacetic ultra otic for problems like this or panalog (rx) and it clears up fairly quickly.

Yep, sounds like the tail pocket needs cleaned and some ointment put on it.
