Many puppies are born with heart mumurs. Most of them grow out of it. They are called innocent mumurs. You will not know if it is permanent for a while. Hopefully yours will grow out of it. More than likely the breeder knew this, which is why the price was so low. Depending on how severe, I am sure the vet told you not to panic. I do not know much more than this. Did the vet say anything about what you will need to do in the future if it does not go away? Any meds or anything for it?

No there was no health guarantee and honestly when I told the lady she seemed to not care very much. How can you not care about such a precious animal? The vet wants to seem him again in a few weeks for his 3rd set of shots and to see if anything has happened. I pray that it gets better. Even if it stays the same its better than getting worse! I am going to be looking into specialist around the area and checking out reviews on them. Hopefully if we pinpoint the problem soon we may be able to help Weezy.

Please keep my puppy in your prayers! Ive only had him a day and I am already in tears thinking of him not being here with me.

The doctor just said we would watch it and if it progressed we would go from there. He did recommend looking into a specialst so we may be able to find out more with whats wrong and see how serious it actually is.

Oh well lets look at the bright side. There is no cold and nothing major as of now. The heart murmur may be nothing so try and think positive. (although yes find a specialist to be sure) I am of no help in dogs but my daughter was born with a heart murmur and had many tests run at first which was unsettling but more a precaution than anything I think. Dr couldnt find it in her after a few months so hopefully your pup will outgrow the same just as well. Also, I have a cousin who didnt know she had a murmur until recently, must have had it her whole life and is just fine. I am sure there are diff degrees but until you know first hand from the specialist what you are facing, try and think how common they really are at least in us 2 leggers and dont stress yet. He is a handsome little man and maybe you ended up with the best deal of all. I am frustrated with the person who sold him to you tho, doesnt sound like the best of breeders for sure but hey he is adorable and hopefully will live a long and healthy life just like the rest. :)

First of all Welcome and I'm glad you found this board. Weezy is precious and I hope he feels better soon.

From what i've seen less for a bully means health problems, not necessarily breeding/showing rights, the differences in price i've seen on those is around $500. My vet told me specifically to be careful of cheaper bullies because of health issues but if he is from the same litter as more expensive puppies, the breeder must have known about the murmur.

Hope you got good news at the vet. Did the breeder give you a health gaurantee? I'm surprised that the breeder would send you home with a puppy they thought was sick.

I'm so glad that his cold symptoms aren't bad... just keep an eye on it so it doesn't progress into pneumonia. As for the heart mur-mur... there are LOTS of human infants born with mur-murs also and they grow out of them without a problem.

You are a very good bullie parent for finding out as much info as possible. Please keep us posted on Wheezy... and lots pf pictures aren't a bad idea either.

First congrats on your new baby. I have some experience with heart murmurs as when I brought my bulldog puppy to the vet he had a heart murmur as well. I took him to a Cardiologist as my regular vet informed me that the only way to tell what kind of murmur it is is with an echocardiogram. You cannot tell from the sound or severity of the murmur whether it is a harmless murmur that he will outgrow or not. It turned out my Midas has mild-moderate pulmonic stenosis. So in my case the murmur will not go away but according to the Cardiologist as long as it does not get any worse than it is right now he will be fine. If it does get worse he will need an operation called Balloon valvuloplasty which will help open up the hole leading from his heart to his lung..kinda like an angioplasty on people. Luckily I did purchase him from a
WONDERFUL breeder who as soon as I notified her refunded my money right away and gave me the option of returning him or keeping him...my choice..so of course I kept him.

His condition hasn't slowed him down at all. He is now 8 months old and weighs 59lbs...
