Well were back from the vet. I found out Weezy has a heart murmur. The vet put it about a 2 with 4 being the worst. The vet said there is a chance he may grow out of it. I sure hope so.
I have a feeling the lady who sold him to us knew about this too. She never said anything but he was fairly cheap for a bully. He was 750 and his sister was 2000. I should have realized it then that something was probably wrong with him but I just figured it was because I wasnt buying the breeding rights to him and because his nose is more squished in then the other puppies.
Well I am not planning on returining him or anything like that. I love him and will continue to love him and take care of him as much as I can. Please if anyone else has had this happen and know of anything I can do please let me know.

How long does your vet think it will take for him to grow out of it, if he does? Do you have to take him in for check-ups on it regularly? I don't know anything about heart murmur's in dogs, but I know babies can grow out of it. You thought he was cheaper because you did not buy breeding rights and you say his nose is more squished in than the other's? When I saw his picture I thought to myself he had a longer nose than most! Vegas does not even have any sort of bridge to his nose. I think your right though about the breeder knowing, why would she ask so much less than his sister?

What did the vet say about his "cold" symptons?

OK never mind what I said about his nose looking longer than most, I just went through Vegas's baby pics (I adopted him at 4 months) and his nose is exactly the same as Weezy's, lol. When did Vegas's nose just suck into his face?????

About the "cold"-no real signs of anything. temp good, ears clean, a little buildup of mucus in the eyes, and a little sneezing. did put him on meds just incase.

About the Murmur-he said by about 6-8 months we should really know whats going on with him. I have to take him in for his shot here soon and the vet will look again and said we would go from there.

I asked the breeder about him and she said she just went to the vet on Saturday and said the vet didnt say anything. I dont know though. Oh well I guess.

Do you have a health guarantee with the breeder? It is odd that she let him go for a lesser price. But let's think positive and take care of your new pup first. (hug)Not too sure what to do with a heart murmur. Did the vet give you a schedule on when to visit next and what to do and not to do? Don't hesitate to call him/her if you have any questions. My vet encourages phone calls. And please don't hesitate to ask quesitons here. Most of the time, someone's online to help you! I'm glad Weezy found such a caring mom. I can tell you've already found out why we're so passionate about bullies here!

Many puppies are born with heart mumurs. Most of them grow out of it. They are called innocent mumurs. You will not know if it is permanent for a while. Hopefully yours will grow out of it. More than likely the breeder knew this, which is why the price was so low. Depending on how severe, I am sure the vet told you not to panic. I do not know much more than this. Did the vet say anything about what you will need to do in the future if it does not go away? Any meds or anything for it?

No there was no health guarantee and honestly when I told the lady she seemed to not care very much. How can you not care about such a precious animal? The vet wants to seem him again in a few weeks for his 3rd set of shots and to see if anything has happened. I pray that it gets better. Even if it stays the same its better than getting worse! I am going to be looking into specialist around the area and checking out reviews on them. Hopefully if we pinpoint the problem soon we may be able to help Weezy.

Please keep my puppy in your prayers! Ive only had him a day and I am already in tears thinking of him not being here with me.

The doctor just said we would watch it and if it progressed we would go from there. He did recommend looking into a specialst so we may be able to find out more with whats wrong and see how serious it actually is.

Oh well lets look at the bright side. There is no cold and nothing major as of now. The heart murmur may be nothing so try and think positive. (although yes find a specialist to be sure) I am of no help in dogs but my daughter was born with a heart murmur and had many tests run at first which was unsettling but more a precaution than anything I think. Dr couldnt find it in her after a few months so hopefully your pup will outgrow the same just as well. Also, I have a cousin who didnt know she had a murmur until recently, must have had it her whole life and is just fine. I am sure there are diff degrees but until you know first hand from the specialist what you are facing, try and think how common they really are at least in us 2 leggers and dont stress yet. He is a handsome little man and maybe you ended up with the best deal of all. I am frustrated with the person who sold him to you tho, doesnt sound like the best of breeders for sure but hey he is adorable and hopefully will live a long and healthy life just like the rest.

He is such a sweet looking puppy! I hope everything works out well for you and I am sure it will. It is nice to know that he is in good hands and that you will take great care of him, either way. Keep us updated on his progress!
