He looks so handsome! What a great face! I think I would like to have the blood allergy test done on Mabel. I have heard it is more specific. Our vet told us to wait until her allergies are in full gear to get a better reaction.

We haven't had eye surgery done on her, but it's probably in the future because she also has mild entropion too. Let us know what the specialist says.

I did find Winston a softer "Cone of Shame" and he seems much happier in it… I will watch him like a hawk, and if he starts to rub furniture or anything BACK to the hard plastic. I bought them some "EARLY" Christmas presents, and Winston was very excited about his reindeer. Him & Roxie were at it, so I'm gonna have to monitor that craziness too… LOL

I want to THANK all of you for your concern, advice, and just plain letting me vent!!! :hissycry: No matter WHAT happens, I will get thru this… one day at a time!!!

aaaaaaaaaaahh.. love it. He could model that cone. Winston's gorgeous!

@ChrisRN That's so weird, how we're being told the opposite things. I'm going to wait til the summer than go see a dermatologist at the Animal Medical Center here (I love this place). Will see what he says. I hope he agrees with your vet, really want to get Blue tested.

Re: WORRIED… Ugh!!!

Tracey,
So sorry to hear Winston's negative report. He is so handsome!! He makes the ole' cone look good. I will be praying for you and Winston. I know how it is when everything comes down on you at once. Try very hard to get through one day at a time. That is all you can handle-I know-- it's hard, but talk to God. It will help.

Re: WORRIED… Ugh!!!

Tracey I'm sorry i wasn't on EBN all day and I never saw this thread. I'm praying for Winston and even though you're going through so much right now it will all end up okay. I know you don't feel that right now but you're doing all you can for him and he will get better. I love the pictures! Winston is a handsome bully that's for sure! I was wondering can you take the come off him during times you're right there with him to just watch he doesn't scratch at it? I mean just to give him breaks with it or does he scratch it all the time? The soft cone looks much more comfortable. Good luck Tracey and hang in there. Last summer I was going through such stress with chums problems and everyone here made it so much better with their concern and caring advice. You will get through this!

Thanks Jim, I don't know what I would do w/out you guys... I haven't taken the cone off yet, but I may tomorrow to give him a break! I just don't want him to pop out that contact... Lol God knows I can't put that thing back in...

Re: WORRIED… Ugh!!!

I just got back from the specialist, and I'm afraid it's bad news :(
Winston has another ulcer in his right eye from scratching it, and she actually put a contact in to help it heal. As soon as she put the contact in there the swelling went down in his eye… Not only is the eyelid turning internally to cause irritation, but he also has the inner eyelashes that are irritating the eyes. At this point surgery is imminent :*( I go back in a week so she can re-check his eyes, and then we can schedule the surgery. She did give me a name of an allergy specialist in Nashville to go see, but now matter how much testing is done it's NOT going to alleviate the fact that his lashes need to be removed.

He has the cone of shame on, and I brought home a ton of meds…
Zyrtec, Rimadyl, Ofloxacin, Neo Pol Bacit, & GenTeal

He seems miserable, so if anyone has any suggestions for this stupid cone that would be great!!! I had to take it off for him to get something to drink, and I doubt he will eat w/it on...

I'm NOT going to lie, I'm REALLY upset about this… I broke down in the car before the long drive home :cry:She told me that they do surgery on bulldogs ALL the time, but of course she has NO idea what my year has been like. Thanks for all the support as always guys… I'm probably going to need a valium on surgery day!!!

I'm so sorry:*( I can't even imagine how you feel:nope: As you know Boeboe has had a few operations on her eyes for the same reason:( but the good part is that she did great:), and I'm sure Wilson will do too as he's in good hands:heart:.

Is burning or pulling the hairs out an option? I don't know much about how it works cos vet and husband speaks Afrikaans and I'm to emotional to focus enough on what they're saying:ashamed:. Our vet will look at Boeboe's eyes now when she's in for her hip and he says if she STILL has problems they'll burn them out... I don't know why Boeboe has such issues, but they said her eyes are difficult cos of a reason I can't remember... it's so hard with all those fancy words:eek:

I wish I could give you a hug:assurred: we can stress together, at least it feels better having the support from this forum:happy:

I haven't talked to them about the options yet, that will be for next week w/the re-check. Winston's eyes are in a diamond shape, and for some reason that causes problems… not to mention that he's super wrinkly!!! Looks like BOTH of us will be dealing w/surgeries very soon, I don't think they want to wait too long w/Winston. I don't want him to lose his eyes because I'm nervous about his surgery…

Petra you have give me a HUG!!! :hug2:Just knowing that someone understands what I'm going thru, and HOW I feel about my fur-babies makes this so much easier to deal with. We WILL get thru this, no matter what… Sending much LOVE & HUGS to you my friend!!!

Ja, if it has to be done it's better to do it rather sooner than later and get it over and done with. I've given up on nagging about options for Boeboe's hip, it gets me nowhere so she's going in for surgery on December 23:(. Hopefully by Christmas day we're both sitting by the tree hugging our perfectly healthy babies:christmas26:and it all went great:) that's how it's gonna be:heart:
