Took Winston to Nashville today to see the eye specialistā€¦

I had my list of questions of course, LOL but I didn't need them at allā€¦ she did a thorough exam on him and explained everything to me right away. Told me that as of right now she wants to try meds on him for now to see if that will help. Gave him Neo Poly Dex Ointment, and GenTeal Gel eye ointment. Wants to see us in 3 weeks, but she seems to believe his eyes are itching due to allergies NOT eyelash issues. She wants me to discuss this w/my vet. I felt very comfortable w/her from the get go...

Of course now I'm definitely pissed that my vet wanted to schedule a future surgery when NOW the specialist isn't even convinced that he needs it!!! Why are vets so jumpy about getting surgeries, instead of uncovering why it's happening in the first damn place?!!

I'm so thankful for this forum, and those of you who told me to see the eye specialist. I had that one already decided, but I'm so glad you guys agreed as wellā€¦ :thanks:

I am sooooooooooooooooooo happy you went to the specialist!! Like it's been said so many times before on here some of these doctors are more concerned about the $$$$$ then they are about the welfare of the bully's. I pray and hope Winston doesn't have to have surgery!

Well, i'm glad the eye specialist will go with drops instead of jumping right into the surgery. She does sound like a great doc and i sure hope the eye meds will help Winston so that surgery can be avoided all together!

Jumping with joy here in Texas...no surgery for handsome Winston :happy2:

Very glad you got a specialist's opinion, nothing like peace of mind
about our beloved babies. Give him sloppy kisses from me & Cami.

So relieved to hear that the specialist doesn't necessarily believe that Winston will need surgery and wanted to try the meds first! Thoughts and prayers are with you and Winston that the meds do the trick :)

Happy for you and Winston. I think that is a sign of a good specialist-first trying to avoid surgery, not "blade happy'.

I am just now seeing this!!! Ohhh same story!! Vegas is normally OK, but when his allergies flare his eyes swell, Our vet wanted to do the same thing! surgery. NOT that I would have let him and I explained to him, NO his eyes only do this during allergy season. I get antibiotic drops and his eyes clear up right away and lube drops. Funny since I joined this group how many times I have said NO to the vet, Not that I know better, but I always put it out here first before I do anything!! Im sure he hates me when I say..."well I belong to a bully group, and they said" LMAO!!!!!

So happy to hear surgery may not be in his future! I pray the ointment works. I know what you mean....I found a small place on Sheldon's belly that looks like it could have been the start of a staph infection so I cleaned it with Hibiclens gave him a left over antibiotic and today it looks good. Thanks to this sight I didn't panic or freak out just went and got my bully first aid and took care of it!!! THANK YOU EBN!!!
