Hi, my sweet lil bully named Winny, has these sores that popped up on her a few weeks ago. I have been trying to treat it myself with some antibiotic cream and it seemed to dry them up and hair grew back but today two new sores. Any clue as to what they can be? She will be 10 next March, and is on "bold and Raw" raw dog food, the rabbit to be pacific. Could it be allergies or a fungus of some sort? We just moved from Chicago to Toronto in April. I've took her to two vets to get checked out, whom were recommended but wasn't impressed. One gave me a fungus shampoo and boric acid wipes, doesn't seem to be helping tho....:( any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hello Angela, sorry Winny is having these sores. Did either vet do skin
scrapings to determine the cause? If you can send a pic, would help us
to point you in a direction. Welcome to EBN, Winny sure looks great!

Hi Angela, sorry to hear about Winny's sores. I'm not sure what they are, but I can recommend some things to try, and a vet to see. I'm in toronto as well, transplanted from Pittsburgh. We go to Matthew Richardson at the animal clinic on mutual street (dundas and church ish) downtown. He was the second vet we take Lola to, because the first said nothing to worry about her palate, and she turned blue one day and DEFINITELY needed surgery. the animal clinic dot ca

Second, I don't have any boric acid, but what i do use on Lola's sores (ranging from chin acne to yeasty paws to icky ears, tail pocket) are douxo wipes. YOu cannot find these in canada unfortunately but I order them from amazon for like $9 for 30 wipes. I use once every few days, or if she is itchy, i cut them up and use them a couple times a day. Someone else might want to pipe in on whether to dry them out or keep them wet, my gut tells me to dry those suckers out. Witchhazel will also work in a pinch. :) A pharmacist can order a chlorhexidine flush (from a vet) or a shampoo type product called stanhexidine which costs about $11, its 450 ml, and they sometimes have to order it in if it is not in stock. feel free to message me with any questions :) i hope it works out for you and winny

Hi, so nice to hear from other transplants to Canada, takes a little getting use to. I took winny to the animal clinic downtown , it took me about 2 hours to get there, but they were recommended by a bulldog breeder. I saw a women, she was young Asian I think. I say this because I don't remember her name. I wasn't content with her diagnosis, so I took winny straight from there to brookville vet. Clinic in campbellville, another hour drive. They were recommended by bulldog club of central canada. They seemed more concerned but still wasn't satisfied. I travel ever 6 to 8 weeks to Chicago to see my children, so I think I will take her back to my vet there, but I'm still needing a good vet. Here in Toronto, actually i live in Richmond hill. If you know of anyone west of Toronto please let me know, I would appreciate it. Thank you for your info. I will use it

Well the vets that did the tooth extraction and the palate surgery were actually at the VEC at yonge and sheppard. You can make an appointment there (I think) but it may be more expensive, its the emergency clinic - we saw two specialists, and they are busy busy busy there. We saw Debbie French the dentist and Dr. Ringwood (a man) for the palate surgery. I never saw anyone else but Dr. Richardson at the animal clinic but him and the senior vet (who is no longer taking new patients) were recommended by a friend here on EBN. Vikinggirl savemejeebus may have vet recommendations!

Hi Angela  I'm from North Toronto too. We go the the East York Animal Clinic, as they provide holistic remedies. May I ask where the sores are located? Sometimes one of my boys get them on his feet, and when that happens, we soak them in epsom salt solution until they disappear.

Hi there, the sores are on her Back, I think I have saw that clinic, we go on yonge and Bathurst a lot to get around. Did you see the pic of the sores? I don't understand why the vets didn't scrape one just to check. Where do you take your bully and are you happy with them?

Hi Angela, sorry you and Winny are going through this. I'm not sure what the sores could be, but they could be an allergic reaction to something. I also am not familiar with any vets in the Toronto Area, I live in Mississauga, and we see Dr. Madden on Brittania in Mississauga, On.
