Odd spot on Rumble's tail

Rumble has this odd spot on his tail. It does not seem to bother him and seems to have just recently appeared. He is going to the vet tomorrow to have it looked at (and his green wrinkles that we cannot get to go away ever since he was boarded during our vacation which I am still angry about) but I am worried about it. It is maybe the size of a nickel. Any ideas what it could be? The first picture is up close and the second is a little farther away.

Our George (RIP) had the same spot appear on his tail. The vet said it was just a spot where he lost his hair due to age.

Could it be from him sitting on it? Rubbing the fur off? Just a thought hopefully the vet can give you some answers to both issues.

Banks has that too... I think it is from sitting on her tail

It looks like an allergy spot. Buddy got on on his head once and about a month, the hair grew back.
