My 9-year-old English has developed a protruding spine over the past few months. She's always been a small and slender bully, but her spine never showed. She's still very active, eats great, and seems normal. It's just her spine now shows. Is this typical of aging, or more serious possibilities? Thank you.

Has she lost any weight?

Not sure but if you have an experienced Bully Vet, I'd call and ask.

My mother is 80 and due to being older & complicated by Alzheimer's
she has lost a lot of weight and looks bony even tho I feed high calorie
dense food & shakes, she has good appetite when she eats but isn't
interested in eating. Her skin seems to hang off her frame as well, is
that what is happening?

So, I'm saying, maybe it's her age coming on, it's good she's eating well
& seems well otherwise. GOD bless her!

I am not sure, I do think it sounds like a weight issue, as from what I understand if the spine is showing they are underweight, but to be sure I would certainly have her checked out by a vet. If she is still eating and doing well the weight loss would be odd to me too.

Thank you for everyone's comments. All seems normal, just that darn spine. I am taking her to the vet.
