Looks like staph to me, if the neosporin and/or veterycin doesn't seem to help
within a couple of days, get antibiotics. Build up immune system w/good Probiotic.
Give kefir or plain, unsweetened yogurt if put on antibiotic.

Stop the treats, he may have allergies to the salmon or other ingredients.

Wouldn't stop beach trips (wait till he's healed from this), if continues to have
problems then play in fresh water. GOD bless!

Thank you! We do plain Greek yogurt in the morning. Should I up thr amount he gets? I JUST got a bottle of salmon oil which I will reluctantly put on hold til this is sorted!

Should I wait a few before taking him to the vet?

Yikes!
We were just about to get him some insurance too, hope this doesn't put him on some pre-existing condition that shoots up our rates!

I did clean them up with a duoxo pad, and applied neosporin about three hours ago. They seem more raw now :(

They may seem more raw now because the medicine brings the blood to the skins surface, usually means its working. I would see how it is over the next couple days and then if no improvement certainly get to the vet.

thank you so much
I always said they are ten times worse than your first baby, but man is it ever true!! I have been a laid back human mom, can't say the same for puppy mom :p makes sense about it being more raw. I feel like I should have expected that haha, oh well! Thanks again, I'll keep the thread updated :)

Trying to keep those areas as clean as possible, finally found some vetericyn today! And without going to my local petco, not a big fan of that particular store.

Anyway I've applied it once so far. Cross your paws for us!

I would have to say Staph as well
Seems to be the consensus. Is there anything else I should be doing for it other than duoxo pads and vetericyn?

Good! I was afraid it was just wishful thinking!

If it is staph.... You need antibiotics to fully get it out of his system
