I will definitely! Thank you SOOO much for all your feedback, Frankie and I really appreciate it. :) I will look for one around us and see what they say.
Get thee to an orthopedic specialist!

Seriously! In order to properly diagnose and recommend a course of treatment for hip dysplasia, you cannot rely on your regular vet. An orthopedic specialist will be able to not only manipulate the hip to give you more information but also take a series of x-rays (read by a specialist) to determine the extent of the problem and best course of treatment.

The other thing is, not to be a downer, but it's not realistic to have a one year old on Tramadol for an extended length of time. It's an opiate meant to relieve severe pain (Truman was on the same thing in the days following his diagnosis) but it's not a long-term solution. And unfortunately, if the hip dyplasia is severe, glucosamine isn't a "magic bullet" either.

The good news is that your bully is young so figuring out how bad things are now and the best course of treatment is essential because arthritis has yet to set in - and once that happens, there is no turning back the clock on that - so even though things seem sort of ominous, I am sure there are many options available but I would strongly, strongly, recommend discussing those with a orthopedic specialist.

I agree with Jill... Get to an ortho, that seems more than hip dysphasia. Our girl, Banks was also diagnosed with HD at 8 months and we were told she would never walk correctly. well, 8 yrs later she is a running nutcase keeping up with a 2 yr old Frenchmen. however, she also has back/spine issues that we keep under control with meds and laser therapy. there are options... And we are all here to support, send prayers and positive thoughts to help you through.
p:hug: to all

I totally agree with the recommendations to get her to an ortho ASAP. But also had a thought when watching the second video. It has some aspect that reminds me of scooting because of possible anal, tail pocket, or vulva "itch". Did her vet check anything like that at all?

Have you been able to speak with her breeder? Whenever duchess had an issue such her as eyelashes that she is going in for cryosurgery tomorrow - the breeder response has been " that's unfortunate I have never had any issue"! I seriously want to punch her. I never asked for anything or wanted anything- simply wanted her to stop breeding dogs with hereditary issue!

:sorry:Hi, you got excellent advice from members above, and I'm sorry I don't have any experience with this, but sending lots of love, hugs and prayers that Frankie Mae gets the pain control she needs, and you are able to find a treatment or surgery that would be best for her. I would definitely get a second opinion from an orthopaedic surgeon, to get other options. Please keep us posted. Take care Hun.

Yes they check her anal glands, not her vulva or tail pocket. I will check her tail pocket, I clean it daily to get all the hair out. As for her breeder he contacted me back and No, her parents don't have anything like this and he has never had anything like this happen either... In the multiple messages that I left I clearly expressed myself that I just would like information on her parents, grandparents etc.. I was not willing to "swap" my baby. I just would have like to make him aware and exactly STOP breeding her parents because it does run in her genetics. His reply when he finally replied was : im sorry to hear that, but since you don't want to send her back, I will give you 1/2 off another puppy". Are you serious?! I was like "wow". SHe didn't do it at all last night and just kinda sat funny like not wanting to put pressure on her rear.. SO I will go home at lunch and check her tail pocket. I really APPRECIATE all of the feedback, information and stories that there is hope for her because when I left the vet yesterday after her vet told me "shes either gonna have a short road, or a very long hard road" I was devastated...

Well...this just SUCKS...hoping you have yet to get a correct dx and that it
will be a better one and fixable. As for the breeder, when you get a dx, I'd
ask for him/her to pay for it...or at least half. All they can do is say No.

Keeping y'all in prayers, GOD be with you, today & everyday.

No he said that he only pays up to $300.00 and he has to authorize it. Its too funny bc I have already spent OVER that in the last 2 visits. So I said well Ill tell you I am gonna take the 1/2 off the other puppy you would give me and apply it on her medical bills....UGH! I was frustrated , not that he didn't offer, but that he was trying to give me another puppy.. REALLY!

My heart goes out to you... After watching both videos and knowing she only does this sometimes makes me think there is possibly something else going on.... It could be spinal as 2BullyMama pointed out and also LariP pointed out it does almost seem like she's trying to get an itch. I would check tail pocket, vulva, and under her rear paw pads as well.

I'm curious to know why your vet diagnosed severe hip displaysia but didn't refer you to an orthopedic specialist. Are they considered experts in that field? Most vets are not and always refer to a specialist, that's why I'm wondering.

I hope you get some more answers and soon, this has to be weighing on your heart so heavily!

She said because she wanted to try these medications and other test (bloodwork) where the specialist would start.. but she said its apparent dysplasia on her xrays, but both drs in her office said it would not cause this and thinks there is possibly a spinal issue. Im just getting really impatient bc I feel helpless. They are hoping maybe a tick Bourne disease that they can fix with antibiotics, I was like Hello! just give her a script and they wouldn't incase its not that. I am researching some neurologist in my area because I know it may show dysplasia on the xrays, but I had a german sherpard w/ severe dysplasia and it didn't do this either. I am going home on my lunch break to check her tail pocket and vulva because I did notice last night when I helped her up she was wet back there and looked like she deetled on the floor...

Poor girl. Last thing that came to mind is valley fever- that also effects the hind legs. It's pretty prevalent in Arizona so I'm not sure if its found where you live. Let us know what you find on your lunch break please :begging:

I haven't heard of that, im in Missouri, about 35 min south of St. Louis. I will look that up. But she wasn't doing this at the vet and when I was telling both dr's they were like well we really know how she tugs on your heart so shes probably just tricking me , well I took these videos in yesterday and they were surprised,.,, I do baby her, yes.. but im not going to exaggerate about her not using her rear- lol shes smart but come on.. lol I will defiantly post an update on her when I get back from checking on her.
