    Default Nerve Problems

Poor Sherman! Been to the doc twice now with the same symptoms and they now suspect a nerve problem. Sherman is not himself, not cuddling, plopping down suddenly, jumping up quickly, leaning when he sits with one leg outstretched. He has been on anti-inflammatory meds with little relief. Anybody ever experienced this with their bully! Could it have anything to do with his corkscrew tail? Are nerve issues more common? Waiting to get him into the neurologist. So stressed!

I have heard of corkscrew tails causing nerve issue and some times even bladder issue is the tail starts to curve before it exits the body. I hope they are able to help him. Have you consider chiropractic therapy? Acupuncture? I have heard people had great success. Good luck

No prior experience with what you are dealing with. Just wanted to send prayers and a puppy hug to Sherman.

I am so sorry! I just got home from the vet with Frankie Mae' because she started just howling and crying yesterday afternoon. She wouldn't walk she was dragging her back paws. The did mention a herniated or bulging disk, but said that usually in both their legs ands she is only favoring her left side currently. He put her on Rimadlyl for 14 days and I have to take her back if she shows no improvement or worsens before. I am SOOO scared and my heart is breaking watching her She just turned (1) on 6/28 I will say prayers for Sherman that he gets better as well.

Banks has back issues which are related to the cork-screw tail ---- she is on Gabapentin for it, it is a nerological med that helps supress the pain, not a pain killer which would make her tired and not want to do anything. With being on the Gabby, she is totally herself (good and bad) and does not should signs of being 'drugged' up. She also goes once a month for laser therapy, it is a deep tissue treatment which helps loosen the muscle and such around the spine - keeping her less tense and flexible. it is apparent when she is due for a treatment as she becomes nasty and less willing to play or go down stairs.

Well encouraged to hear Banks story. My vet had mentioned Gabapentin. We go to the specialist tomorrow morning. I hope all we need is a pill. Thanks for all the good thoughts. Sherman will be celebrating his 1st birthday on the 28th and I hope he will be his normal crazy self!

How long did it take for the Gabapentin to kick in? Sherman started yesterday afternoon.
