This is the procedure the vet has stated she will need. he said it is somewhat urgent as the hairs growing in her eyelids are causing her a lot of pain and ulceration(s). it is why she has been blinking and squinting and has the left eye ulcer. She will see an ophthalmologist next week.

Can you tell me what to expect, procedural, recovery time etc.. please? I'm a nervous wreck (as usual).. LOL

Oh girl I am so sorry. I do not know anything about the procedure but I hope Brie feels better very soon as you two have had a very bumpy road the past couple of weeks.

Hannah has had it done twice. It is not hard on them at all.

Do they get put under for the procedure? And about how much does it cost? Also, how long did it take for eyes to recover? She is no good w the cone of shame..I hope she won't need that?

They do put them under. It was about $700. She did not have to wear a cone, I just watched her so she did not rub her eyes. Recovery time is very short. She has actually had it done twice in 3 months because a few lashes grew back.. My vet said after the age of 2 Hannah may need it one more time and then the lashes do no grow back.

How long does the procedure take and do they keep them overnight or can I wait n take her home the same day?

Hi, sorry I don't have any experience with this eye disorder, my Blossom had cherry eye in both eyes, and we had them repaired, but I'm not familiar with what Brie has, I was just wanting to send you and Brie love, hugs and prayers, that everything goes well, and she has a quick recovery. Eye surgery is less invasive then most other surgeries, but it's still a worry when we have to put our bullies under anesthetic, I'm sure she will be in good hands, and she will be fine. Good luck and pls keep us posted on her progress. Take care hun

Ok so she does have distachia not entropion... This is what I was telling you about where they found the hairs under the eyelids! This procedure does require anesthesia. Basically they are going to kill the hair folicals. Like burning them off so they won't regrow.

Most cases this surgery needs to be done twice, so you may want to expect that a repeat will be almost certain. Because as they age they will likely get new folicals and maybe ones haven't grown lately that are there. It's nearly impossible to get them all the first time.

Cone if shame may be necessary to keep her from rubbing her eyes. Especially when she's unsupervised.

Sweet Brie... Now everything makes total sense. Give her a smooch please!

Hannah came home the same day. Once they are awake they can come home. It is a short procedure just freezing the eyelashes.

Brie sends hugs to you all! The vet never gave me a diagnosis, or if he did, I missed it for crying ..I know I shut down for a bit when he was talking..silly mommy! But he did say hairs n showed them to me, so I'm assuming it is distachia. I'll ask tomorrow when they call w the referral. He said that a lot of times it is needed more than once, but there is a 80-90% chance they won't co e back..lets hope we fall into that category. She really is a trooper...things could be so much worse n I'm SO grateful they aren't. Just want her to have a lil break is all. We have to travel a bit to get to the ophthalmologist so I'm hoping we can just stay n bring her home. Sadly there is only 1 in the whole state now.

Lisabear123 they do make soft lampshades which are a little friendlier then the hard ones if you want to try one of them.

Im hoping she won't even require one. Her appt w the specialist is to tomorrow. The vet called in the referral for us since they were so booked up and cos he felt is was urgent, they are able to squeeze her in then. I'm so relieved.
