Help Needed! Advice Please

Hello all!
I have a concern about Frankie. She was playing the other day and was over exerted at a rather rapid pace. We were indoors when it happened. She ended up vomiting up a white phlegm. I immediately took her into the other room to calm her down, putting a wet towel down for her to lay on and put a cold cloth on her head. Her breathing still has yet to be at her "normal" she is wheezing too. I gave her one 25 mg Benadryl . She was panting so much I figured I should, it helped calm her down. Now at a few days later I am still keeping a wet towel on the floor and she lays on it when she wants. I am concerned about the over exertion and her breathing. She sounds asthmatic. Any advice? I am also so sad b/c now I am fearful of letting her play. I already can not take her to the dog park b/c she gets so overly excited that her tongue went purple and she was gasping for air, the one and only time I took her. But not playing in your own home, that is horrible!

How scary for you! They do get over heated very easily..the phlegm was probably her upset tummy. Has her pallette been checked? I know Bully's with pallette problems and narrow nostrils seem to have more problems with activity. Someone with more experience will be along shortly. Hope she's calm and cool!

Agree, would take her in and have the vet look at her.

Bullies generally cannot take much heat at all- so depending on how much activity and temperature it is outside must always be considered. She may be perfectly fine, you may just need to adjust to her limits.

[MENTION=8387]frankie[/MENTION] This defintly sounds like a palate issue my male Bulldog and Frenchie both had this surgery done at age 2.... it is very important to have Frankie checked by the vet to see if h=his nares (nostrils) palate and saccules checked. all those constrict the airway which cause what you describe... purple tongue is a big red flag for lack of air. The foam vomit is the phelm upsetting his tummy. After the surgery and about 10 days of no forced exersice.... he will be a new baby.

A few points to keep in mind....

find a trusted Bulldog vet that knows the breed and the procedure. Our vet actually sent us to a specialist with Nitshcke as he felt it was more than he had experience with handling.

if Frankie is not close to or at least 2... you may want to wait till that age as all the items that cause the issue continue to grow until that age. doing it too soon can cause another surgery down the road.

This procedure helps and betters the airway, but does NOT 100% eliminate the problem, he will have an ease of breathing and more energy, but the issue is still there just not as severe.
