Default To the vet for Beefy tomorrow

So I was wipping Beefy butt...as usual and low ad behold....abscessed gland!!!! So I am writing a list tonight of the antibiotics and creams i've been suggested so I can have it with me. This is the LAST antibiotic I am going to try before considering removal of these two glands. I am also going to get some Natures Logic on the way hometo see if this will help also and more Glen Haven wipes for his tail since they seem to be yielding results. Any suggestions on how to tell if this vet is knowledgeable on this subject first hand? and not just telling me text book info...

@lexterwayne Thanks i'm kinda scared they'll say he's overweight I picked him up for a bath and thought I wasnt gonna be able to straighten my back.... If they don't poke and prod and violate him i will be so p*ssed. Last time I was in there the guy just looked at him.... so I told them I wanted to see the Dr that did Baby Joes tail amp.

I would just ask him if he knows of a vet who specializes in this type of problem since it is not getting better.....

The guy was suppose to have exp with anal gland issues. But e just wasnt as thorough as I think he should have been, he didnt ask me ANYTHING except how long it had been going on and what they did at the Banfield when I took him there. No food questions, poo questions anything. I';m going to call around before his apt

Since your in the middle of a diet change I would give the anal glands some time. When the stools get back to tootsie roll consistency they should help keep the glands cleared out.

Something else I would personally try is both a probotic supplement, as well as an enzyme supplement. I can't remember offhand (sorry ) but if he's been on any antibiotics in the past few weeks his good belly bacteria might have been reduced. Antibiotics aren't really bacteria specific and alot of them will kill many types of bacteria, good and bad. The digestive enzymes will help him digest the food better and the bacteria should firm up the stool. The drs foster and smith website carries both at a good price.

What percentage of the food mix is high fiber foods?
