Default Bully Vet Specialist in Palm Springs area for Serious Ear Infection

I wish I found this thread earlier before my Chubs' ears got this bad.

I cleaned his ears daily with an all natural rinse and dry formula. After a few years, something happened and all of a sudden his right ear got really goopy really fast! I took him to the vet, and apparently his ear canals are so closed up and hardened that the ear rinse has been staying inside his ears and not draining properly. He was given some antibiotics and a steroid to bring some swelling down, but neither one of those medications did anything. I was also told to rinse his ears with Palmolive (dish soap) and a warm wet towel to wipe it clean. That seemed to make it all worse and now his ears drain constantly. His skin under his ear broke out into a rash. His ear hurts so bad that I cannot clean or wipe his ear without making his cry. Chubs is very sad and it's breaking my heart! I was told to go to a vet clinic about 2 hours from where I live but after checking some reviews, it's not a wonderful place. Pets have caught kennel cough there, waited 3 hours to be seen and not received any treatment (just rude, heartless service.)
Chubs made need surgery to open up the ear canals again. Is there anyone in the Palm Springs, CA area that can help my bully feel better??
My regular vet is consulting with someone else right now, but he's thinking a dermatologist?? Does that even make sense??

In the meantime, I'm giving Chubs some doggie aspirin so that he can at least walk around and spring a little life into him. I tried cleaning his ear again, but he cried and yelped so bad that we just hugged each other and cried together.

I don't live in the area, but hoping someone who does will come by. I would try to find a good bully vet for future visits and at this point, like you said you may need to find a specialist.

@soniastw Ohh your poor baby ... I go to DR. Butchko he is pretty well known in So. Cal as a bully specialist in Riverside lots of people drive from far away to see him with their bullies. I think it might be worth it to drive down to see him. Here is his information.

    Dr. Butchko
    5488 Mission Blvd
    Riverside CA 92509
    951-686-2242
    Mon-Fri 8-6pm
    Sat 8-5pm

They dont take appointments take him to Dr. Butchko and get a second opinion before any major decision. I dont like putting anything in my dogs ears I just wipe either with a witch hazel pad or Douxo pads. Good Luck and keep us updated on how he is doing.

    Hey guys!
We went to Dr. Butchko. We didn't see him specifically, but the vet we did see was great! She was very knowlegdable and reassured us that Chubs' was not the 'worst case scenario.' Relief!! It was about 1:45 minutes from us, but it's worth it.
Got a anti-inflammatory shot behind both ears and on his back, antibiotic, yeast infection meds, and an ear solution. He also got shaved under his ear from the excess drainage that caused a really bad breakout and applied some topical stuff.
Chubs has been in good spirits. (He loves to visit the vet. lol)
Keep us in your thoughts and prayers that all this helps.

What a good news... so nice to hear you found a vet. We drive about an hour for our vet and as you said, that level of trust is so worth the trip

@soniastw Oh I am so glad Chubs is in good spirits. So glad you got a second opinion and received better news from Dr Butcko's office. Bullies are silly my Lab sits on our lap (107 lbs )and tucks his head under our armpits at the vets. Fergus actually thinks its great visiting and doesn't mind the shots, and poking lol. Keep us updated on Chubs and post lots of pictures
