Help Needed! Tear stains

We are fighting the tear stains. We can not get rid of the brown in her crease. We clean daily with water and then dry. Worried about using anything else around the eyes. We did get some stain stuff but havn't used it. The vet said to give Lulu one Tums a day. sometimes we use powder to dry the crease. Any ideas?

I'm having good luck getting rid of the dark brown tear stains on my Daisy. I use a cotton pad like women use to remove makeup, and 2 or 3 squirts of Bactine from a spray bottle. I wipe the stained area back and forth a few times and let it air dry. I'm careful not to get it in her eyes, although I don't think it's dangerous at all. After a week or so I noticed real improvement, and after 2 or 3 weeks, the dark stains were gone.
