Speilman has been getting red in the face, not all of the time but it seems like he gets red in the face quite a bit when he is playing a lot. I am not sure if it is just where he gets worked up and his blood is flowing etc or if he is allergic sometimes. He is also getting some pretty big tear stains in the last few weeks.

Does a red face always mean allergies to something or is it normal? Same with tear stains, is that fairly normal for these dogs?

Thanks

Getting red in the face after playing is probably blood flow - he's just flush from heavy breathing.

Tear stains are super common but, on the right food, can be less of an issue. What are you feeding? I never had a major problem with tear stains but, after switching to a grain free food without potatoes, I have two white faced bullies that never get the stains.

Is his skin pinkish when not playing? Any rubbing or itchiness? Paw licking? Those are pretty big signs of allergies..even poo that isn't quite right.

Yes his face is pinkish probably most of the time. He doesn't seem to itch or like his paws. I am thinking probably blood flow.

If you start to notice him itching..or the paw licking then think about allergies. I will ask cowsmom to give you an educated thought on this food..
