URGENT!!! Daisy Short of Breath on Rimadyl

I spent some time with Daisy at the hospital this morning. She seemed much improved, and was breathing easier - almost normally. She was bright eyed and eager, jumping up and kissing my face and ears. I was so relieved that I cried. The radiologist thought it looked like a fungus infection in the lungs. We don't have fungus here in the desert, but Daisy came to us from a breeder in Ohio, and that's a primary trouble spot for fungus. Apparently, these fungus infections can take months to incubate and then finally show up in symptoms. The vet is waiting for blood test results which should be back today. I just want my sweet honey bear home where she belongs. I'll post pictures of Lily and Daisy today. Thanks everyone for your continuing support!

Olive was on Rimadyl short-term after her spay and had no problems at all-not even stomach upset. I sure hope your Daisy gets better soon!!

Alot of dogs cant handle Rimadyl ,my two bullys cant. If they need a pain medication I use Tramadol they do well on it with no side affects, but all dogs are different.

Update: I brought Daisy home just now. She is obviously feeling better, although she is still short of breath. The IV fluids, antibiotics, and stopping the Rimadyl has helped her. But today's follow up X-Ray of her lungs is no different than Sunday's. The blood test came back negative for Blasto. But the vet is certain that it's the Blasto fungus, and the radiologist and a consulting internal specialist agree with him. A urine sample has gone out to Mira Vista lab and we should have that result tomorrow. In the meantime, we are starting her on Sporanox. I fully expect it to be positive for the fungus. Her upset stomach was undoubtedly due to the Rimadyl, but in a way that was a blessing in disguise as it helped persuade me to get her to the vet when I did. I'm hoping we've caught the fungus at an early stage. Will report more later.

OK, now I really don't know what to do. The Mira Vista lab's antigen test was negative for Blasto. That test is pretty high confidence, somewhere in the high 80/90% range. But the snowstorm pattern on both lung X-Rays is indicative of Blasto. I'm still giving her the fungus medicine that I brought back from the vet's. But, I haven't ordered the large quantity of it from the Canadian pharmacy yet. It's so expensive I want to make sure of what I'm doing first. If anyone has any suggestions or advice, I'm sure open to hear it!

I'm taking Daisy to an internal medicine specialist this afternoon. Something new has occurred to me. Where we live Desert Broom (Baccharis Sarothroides) is blooming profusely. It's covered in white pollen things like a Dandelion that float around all over the place. Over the last couple of weeks it's been like a veritable blizzard of the stuff out there. When you walk down the sidewalk you can see it swirling around your feet. I also know the stuff is highly irritating to those with allergy problems. Does anyone have experience with this causing respiratory problems in their dogs?

I want to thank you all SO much for your concern, prayers, and good wishes. I know Daisy appreciates everything done for her, she's just that kind of dog. Interesting, how I took Daisy in to our vet and told him I was concerned about an adverse drug reaction, but how his knowledge and high technology led him pursue a diagnosis of Blastomycosis. $2,500.00 later it turns out I was right. I'm just thankful that Daisy isn't real sick and that none of the treatment has hurt her. She is a daddy's girl, and I just couldn't bear to see anything bad happen to her.
