I need advice guys- Mr. D keeps getting these little circles on his sides and back that are crusty, hair loss, no blood, not weepy, not itchy. Vet has said they are staph in the past, gives him the $80 antibiotic shot or pills for 21 days (3x since March) and he's fine for a month and then it's back. I can't keep doing this. He gets 3V omega oils on his food daily, just started Nu vet (the cat version bc it does not contain alfalfa which he is allergic to) last week, and he is on Earthborn Meadowfeast food only - no people food ever, which doesn't contain anything on his allergy report. The underside of his paws are STILL very pink all the time, I think he's licking them anytime he isn't watched, and I have given up on them. (I tried dermapaw but it was so greasy and nasty and the socks he got out of and I worry he will chew the elastic and hurt himself if I leave them on if we aren't home/sleeping, as he is in a crate then. )That was even after a round of antibiotics and an antihistamine script for 3 weeks.
He has a few big spots now, which feel hard under the coat, and a few spots that are smaller in different stages of healing, some almost healed. The new ones have like a hard crust, then hair comes out and he ends up with a bald spot with scaly skin that the edges can get crusty I have to keep cleaning until hair grows back. I bathed him again this week with Malaseb as I did last week, which I read should be done often for this, but I don't know what to do anymore. Some of the scabby came off in the bath today but left raw skin under and I felt horrible for him. But he never scratches. My cat is now diabetic and I have spent over $1000 on him in the last month. I don't want to go to the vet for this again. I am so frustrated. I am ready to do allergy shots possibly, since I already have to give my cat insulin 2x a day now. I don't know what to do.
