Default Vomiting, not eating, vet checks out fine

my poor baby keeps having up and down cycles. he'll go from happy healthy to sick and sad. He's almost two been eating half primal and have blue wilderness. Lately he's been throwing up food 5 to 8 hours after eating followed by not eating for a few days and being depressed. we go to the vet ran blood tests and all his levels are great! he doesn't appear to be blocked by anything (and toys are all ok) but he is still pooping if food intake is still happening ...he miraculously gets better and starts eating is energetic and then when i think we're out of the clear back to the vomiting and not eating! as far as i know he doesn't have any allergies yet but he's also been on non grain foods as well as i've been trying to select foods that are good on sensitive stomach and allergen safe.

does anyone else have anything like this? any suggestions? our next stop is going to be to see a specialist but i want to try and exhaust all other options first if possible!

How long has this been going on where he’s eating and then throwing up his food? Did you vet do an x-ray because if he’s blocked blood work will not show that. And sometimes an x-ray won’t either. Has he always been on the same food during these happy healthy to sick and sad times? It’s his not eating that worries me. We recently (last month) and a bully that went just over a week with not eating off and on and went from happy to sad and got very mellow. He’s owner took him in for a couple of x-rays and an even a full abdominal x-ray done. No blockage was found. He ended up taking him to his regular vet (the other’s were ER vets) and his regular vet wanted to do an exploratory surgery. Turned out he had an intestine blockage and his stomach blockage. They found a combination of string, rope, rubber and plastic! Don’t’ want to scare you but I wouldn’t rule out a blockage just yet.

I'm going to tag a few people for you. Hope you're babe's ok.

Yes get a new X-ray done and INSIST that they use barium!!! He may have a partial blockage thus the on and off thing. the story above, Samson still had fine poop but after a week of no eating he was on deaths door. Very scary indeed.

Hmmmmm, that's a hard one. I think I would let a good bully vet look at him and maybe x-ray him to make sure there is not something stuck somewhere. It could be food related by the off and on does not really go with a food allergy. I think I would get a second opinion from a good bully vet.

I agree with all the others... get a second opinion and xray with barium. Here is a list of bully vets -- see if any are near you

Could he possibly have eaten something like a sock, or other material, that you don't know about? My male Bulldozer ate his gauze and bandage at the vets, and he was pooping and eating normal, he passed that a week later, but he was throwing up, one day, and I was going to take him to the vet, but in the morning he threw up in his crate, and my husbands sweat sock came out. We didn't know where or when he had swallowed it. They are so sneaky. Materials won't show up on an X-ray, but a barium X-ray, or a scope would show any obstruction that you can't see on an X-ray . Good luck I hope you find out what's wrong soon, and hope he feels better

I agree I just went through a similar situation, if he has a soft tissue blockage it won't show up on a regular xray get a barium xray. If he has a soft tissue blockage it could be moving and letting things pass IE good mood and eating, then blocking again poor mood and not eating and vomiting.

    Get the barium xrays.

And do this right away. I went through this with both Mack and Ruggles, both had blockages.

No experience but I'd get the barium xray since everyone's recommending!
