If you have had experience with entropian, what age was it discovered? What were signs symptoms? ? If you pull the upper and lower eyelids were you able to see eyelashes? What was the average cost to correct? Is surgery the only way to correct? I had duchess at the vet 2 weeks ago for the yeast issues. She checked out perfect with the exception of the yeast. But I was flaming her folds this am and pulled on her eyelids and saw a couple bumps? On her inner upper eyelid. Entropian was first thing that came to mind but I am not sure. She is almost 8 months and I think I read somewhere it usually develops by 6 months. Is that true?

Peggy had her entropian surgery this past summer, she had lots of tearing and squinting and blinking, I didn't notice the eyelashes. bumps are not a good thing. could be cysts or ulcers . the cost for one eye was $300.
Which is less then most.

Harley had it, but that was too many years ago to remember the details EXCEPT we let our "country" vet do the surgery and Harley's eyes ended up square. Yes, I am exaggerating but come to find out the vet hadn't done that surgery before, Harley was his first. Did it correct the problem, yes. Was I happy, no!

We got Jewel when she was 10 months old and we noticed right away her right eye would not open because she was squinting, and it was watery. We took her to the vet and he said she had some eye lashes curling in and irritating her eye, her plucked them out and said she would need surgery to keep them from coming back, so she had the surgery, and now her eyes are open and beautiful. I don't remember what it all cost. Don't really want to know. LOL.

Mac had it on both eyes although one was worse than the other. And when I say "worse" I mean he almost lost an eye due to the severity it had worsened to over the weekend. Our vet started the surgery on him but backed out of it once he saw the extent of it and had us to go a specialist in Bellingham, WA. The exam and initial meds alone was 300 and the emergency surgery was a pretty penny so I won't scare you with that since his was a special case. I think he was bout 6 months when he got it and it was the worst case the specialist had ever seen or operated on she said. So scary!!

Orion started squinting about this time last year. 2 1/2 years old. We had her looked at by one clinic...who said she was fine and gave her neo/poly/dex to help correct her eye irritation. 2 days later I took her to a different vet and had the same tests done. Turns out she has 1 eye lash that scratches her eye. She had and eye ulcer...and the neo/poly/dex (for dexamethasone) exacerbates ulcers. So..not only was she misdiagnosed, she was given a drug that made it worse.

Her new Dr put a dye in her eye to determine the size and location of the ulcer...then he turned off the lights and put her under a blue light. He then (with the help of 2 techs) took a pair of surgical tweezers and pulled the offending eyelash. That fixed her for several months. When she started to squint again...we took her in and had the eyelash removed again. I prefer this method right now. I'm in no hurry to place her under anesthesia any time soon. It costs 39.00....but it's only 1 eyelash.

Bo had the entropion surgery on 10/15/12. The first time the vet alerted us of it was at 8 months old and told us to hold off bc it wasn't severe and could possibly correct itself. That didn't happen. He ended up getting a scratch on his eye from a bush and the entropion didn't allow it to heal, so that's ultimately why we had the surgery.. I noticed redness, discharge, no wincing or blinking though and you could see the corneal ulcer when close enough. I never really could tell that he had eye lashes rubbing his cornea.... But I NEVER saw bumps. Keep us updated!!

Einstein got it right before he turned 3. He first started squinting a lot. He started producing a lot of eye discharge and his eye got red. The vet said there was an ulcer forming on his one eye so he needed the surgery pronto. Our vet did both eyes because his other eyelid rolled up also. The next day I took him in and got to pick him up that evening. He had stitches on the lower lid and we had drops we had to use a couple times a day. A week later he got his stitches out and we haven't had any problems since. It hasn't been quite a year since he had it done. It ended up costing $1,000 for both eyes if I recall correctly. He had problems after he turned a year and the vet gave us drops and had us periodically pull down on his cheeks to see if maybe his eyelids would roll down on their own but inevitably he had to have the surgery. Good luck!
