Default Still concerned about Gator Ray

Though he has improved A LOT and can walk ok and potty on his own, He is still in pain and still weak in the back legs. He is moving VERY slow and still stumbles here and there (though NOTHING like he was). We go to the ortho on Friday and I will be asking about steroid and laser therapy and just trying to find out what to do from here. He seems to be right back to where he was when we thought he had just hurt his back before he lost control of his legs. He is so mopey too! Poor guy....

If he is pain free, we can deal with the weakness, but I am pretty sure there is still some pain there.

Keep the prayers coming please. It seems we really do still need them.

Thank you guys! It did seem at first that he was pretty pain free but he was on Rymadyl. The ortho wanted us to stop it and so, it was the meds keeping that pain away. I think I am going to call in the morning and see if they will put him back on it.

Prayers, positive thoughts and hugs to you and Gator. Maybe, ask the ortho if Gabapentin will help too @JAKEISGREAT - what do you think?

Actually doing some more research and I have realized the actually might need a veterinary neurologist and not an ortho. I am going to bring that up too. I am also going to call in the morning and try to get him in tomorrow instead of Friday. I am concerned about the pain.

I immediately thought of Gabapentin. Betty..it sounds so much like what my Ana dealt with..except her pain was excruciating. I would ask about it...and not every vet is familiar with it.

Becky, I have it on my list of questions (taking notes right now lol). I did look it up and said that it is used in humans for neruological pain in diabetic patients. Honestly, I am not sure the ortho is the right vet for this so I am going to talk to him tomorrow. I think we need a neurologist. There are several good ones in Ohio that I see from my research and that includes the vet hospital at University of Ohio. I am not opposed to driving FOR SURE.
