:bitching:

My EB Millie (almost 2) has a hot spot again. She had one about 4 weeks ago under her chin... It spread so bad it was all the way down her neck and to the back of her ear.

Now I've caught one on her back... just in the right spot for her to itch it with her hind leg. Last time the vet shaved it, gave us antibiotics, and Genesis Topical Spray.. a solution of 0.015% triamincolone acetonide.

I've cleaned it out with antibacterial soap and sprayed the topical... but haven't shaved the area myself. Will it not heal unless shaved?

I'd appreciate any tips on how to treat these effectively... it's not inflamed like before and not oozing so I'm not sure if the antibiotics are necessary right now
ahhhh this can get frustrating :cursing:

thanks for any tips
Katie

You want to get air on it so it drys up... that is one of the reasons for shaving the area and clean with Listerine. secondly, you want to get a full blood screen allergy test done as there is something throwing her immune system off which is causing the hotspots.

I agree with Christine(above post) lol By it being shaved will allow air to dry it out and listerine will kill the germs...The allergy test could be done now as she is over 1 year old....This is caused by allergies most likely food and narrowing it down with the test will help you prevent these from coming back by avoididing what she is allergic to...You can do the full screen test (food/enviromental). Hope it gets better!

Oh, gosh. Sounds like a food issue :(. Well, at least you are on top of it and are doing the right things to help clear it up! Hope you can find the cause to keep it from happening again.
