I have been all over this site reading everything! I came across a article about anesthesia during a c-section and that it could be risky so my question is how risky is it to fix your bully? I am getting a female and dont want to breed her, she will be the only dog in my house but I dont want to deal with her going into heat so i would like to get her fixed.

:hiya: just make certain the vet uses Isoflurane (sp) gas. It is much safer for Bully's than any other anesthesia. They wake up almost immediately with no after effects. I'm so glad you are finding great info here!

 When my Jake got neutered..my vets anesthesiologist was so great at explaining everything to me. They gave him Valium and another relaxant to relax him before they started anything. This relaxes his airway and makes it much easier for tubing with gas to be inserted. They left him on gas just as long as needed..then give him oxygen. He was up and totally normal...errr..as normal as can be... rest of the time he hung out with them and was great with no anesthetic related problems.

Im going to have to travel 4 hours to get Lola and will be staying in a hotel that night and taking her to the vet the next morning, I read a article on here that said when you get your puppy its important to get them to a vet the first 48 hours so thats what im going to do and I will talk to him then about fixing her. He is a bulldog specialist and breeds them also so he should know something lol!

wow sweetpeasmom2008 you are so lucky to have a vet around familiar with bullies! We got Belly spayed at 5 1/2 months old and they used Iso. She had no issues...the only problem was she was a puppy and ready to romp as soon as we got her home! Your baby will be just fine :)

The vet is 4 hours away but I will make that drive anytime to keep her safe. I live in a small town thats 6 miles long and we only have one vet who is so old he is teaching his tech how to do everything so we will not be going here! lol
