It's incredibly heart breaking this is my first dog ever and I don't think I could go through this again...it's so sad seeing him look at his spot for food only to eat it and throw it up. Doctor said there is nothing he can do and he can't go on IV. There Has been a ton of crying going on in this house for the past few days. I'm so angry lowlife people abuse and neglect great dogs and they aren't sick! I have nothing but love and kindness to give and we get a dog who very likely may die.

Good GOD --- I am so sorry. This is so heart breaking for all of you -- I wish there were something I could do to help in some way. I do not remember, but are you giving him a bland diet (ground beef or chicken with rice)?

We tried that he didn't eat it and when he did be threw it up. Vet gave us their food which is a type of bland diet and he loves it he just throws it up. My hopes were up he seemed better bc he wasnt vomiting for a day or so...my heart is truly in pieces right now he's soooooo good and his personality is great. He's the perfect dog!! I really wish this wasn't happening to us..

Did the vet give any indication if Dozer could beat it?

So sorry to hear this. Keep showing little Dozer love. He is lucky to be in a family that didn't just give him up when they found out he is sick. All he has known in your family is love and care

    Hang in there

I think it's a good plan now to find ways of letting him ingest the nutrients he needs in ways other than food. I'm going to tag the bully experts here for their advice. @desertskybulldogs @Davidh @Sherry and @Twice . I believe plain pedialyte is a good start. Never used it, but some members have.

If I remember, if it's pneumonia, it's imperative to try to get all the phlegm out. I forget how, but going to do a quick search on the site. I know it's in here somewhere.

Oh, and, ((((HUGS)))), we're in this together with you. That's the great thing about this community ... you're never alone.

    **** Update:

Here's a thread that might be useful. They talk about a nebulizer machine. It breaks down the fluid in the lungs and should be used every 3-4 hours. Did the vet give you anything to treat the pneumonia? Antibiotics seem to be the norm to treat it in addition to the nebulizer.

Again, I'm not an expert. Please wait for the more experienced to chime in. I just find it odd that the vet didn't give you more to work with. If you don't see any improvements soon, I would find a specialist and see what they say. There's a few good ones in your state I believe. One downtown NY and one in Tinton Falls in Jersey? I'm going to tag @Twice again. She was there recently.

Here's another useful nebulizer tool. One of our members received help for their breeder on how to use it more effectively. http://www.englishbulldognews.com/fo...reatments.html

Thanks for the info! The doctor did say to put him in a steamy shower room or use a vaporizer. We have been using both and implementing the coupage to help him get it out. It's so odd, he'll cough once or twice and 50% of time nothing comes out. But the second he eats he almost always throws up after 1 cough. I'm thinking because he's excited to get his food so we have been spacing it out and spreading it out over different color dishes and tuberware so he doesnt get a visual que as to what it could be but he still smells it so it only helps minimally. That video is very informative I will see if I can fabricate a similar box for my boy I'm pretty good with my hands so I will see what I could make. Thanks

I thought the lemon was only for him over heating? I have fresh lemons here what do I do with them?

I think you can rent a nebulizer machine somewhere, some mentioned pharmacies carry them. Maybe even ask your vet too and see if they know where you can get one.

With the lemon, you just squirt it down his throat. Make sure there's no seeds though!

Well I would call up the vet to make sure it's okay. It may not help but I can't see how it can hurt. This link shows a family using lemon to clear the throat of a bully who has breathing issues. Of course pneumonia is different so that's why I say check w/ the vets office that lemon juice is okay. Basically you give them a half or quarter size and let him chew it. Don't let him eat the skin.
