ok so some of you know that sarah has had a limp in her right front leg for a bit now that is not getting better. she jumped off the bed like 2 months ago and then limped for like 2 weeks then was fine then she did it again and this time a month later she is not getting better. had her at the vet and she felt it and gave her some pain meds so she took them for like 2 weeks. she was better but still limping. so while at the vet for anals he had the other male vet look at her leg. he wanted to take xrays so i took her wednesday to get them.

well he was asking me all kinda questions like how long ago and did she ever carry her leg and such. im like oh this cant be good. well her leg is broken. and apparently has been for some time as it is calcified and arthritis has set in. im like omg what? well we believe this is something she has had since we got her. since she has had no injuries since being with us. and nothing where she has carried her leg for weeks.

he says i cant fix this as its been to long and called a specialist in greensboro. well they conclude of the options that she will just have to be this way the rest of her life. hm well she is getting around but does limp somewhat. he said pain meds on bad days. hm im like this sucks. we determine that her previous owner let her walk around like that for weeks and then she tore her back leg acl while walking all her weight on those other 3 legs. she had 3 kinds of worms and her spine is not straight i believe they told us when we got her. so how in the h e l l can someone just let a dog walk around like that. to say im angry is an understatement but thats not productive so im all about getting her well.

so vet thinks and thinks and calls back and says i can fix her with laser surgery. what? really? so she had her first treatment thursday of seven and i gotta say i can see a difference in her already. thank you god for a vet who goes the extra mile for my baby whose story must have made and impression since he is the vet who did her acl surgery and saw her when we first got her.

her second treatment is tomorrow and i so hope to see even more improvement and that she will be completely fixed as he says she will be.

just wanted to share this with my ebn friends.
pray for my baby to be all better.

Sandra..I knew most of this and it still shocks me. Your Sarah is so lucky she ended up with you. It amazes me what these Bully's bring into our lives. And even with heartbreak like @Twice is dealing with and all that you have gone through with Miss Sarah..no one would pass on the love they get from these special guys. It will be so interesting to follow her treatments. Did you know Banks gets laser treatments too?

OMG yes they HAD to have left her like that for weeks! One of my dogs broke it's leg when I was growing up, and the vet used a cast but it did not hold, or was not tight enough, and in 14 days the bone started to grow into a circle about the size of a softball, so the vet had to chip off all the bone and put in screws to hold it in place.

Poor sweet girl, I know it took a long time to figure it all out but at least in the end she is going to be helped. Prayers to Sara, maybe if she feels better some of her immune system will boost up too, and help her with her allergies. Oh, oh O I cannot believe people. Honestly, how can people be so cruel?

Amen to that!!

I just don't understand what goes through peoples heads. How do you not notice that your dog cries when she walks? Why have a pet if you don't plan to take care of it? There's a special place in hell for folks like that. I'm sure of it.

Thank God she has you now :)

well its her joint right below the shoulder that is affected and the bone is like sheared off. kinda hard to explain and i kinda blanked out when he was talking to me with tears and shock. i think its laser surgery. he says he can fix it. she is better with just the first treatment so im hopeful

Bulldog-friends here in Germany and I had the very best experiences with Laser treatment: It helps cells to renew very fast. Skin tumors often disappear completely. The Laser treatment will alliverate the osteoarthritis and possibly may get rid of it completely. You are doing the best possible for Sarah :)
