Do you know the funny thing? I'd have taken her even I'd known she was sick. The only difference would have been that I wouldn't have put a bow around her neck and handed her to my kid. I have been searching the internet for hours trying to find this amphogel. I have found one online retailer who sells it and they are out of stock. There were a couple of places that had it by the other names but they were all little online retailers with next to no buyer feedback. I'm not completely comfortable giving my credit card number to places like that. Then I searched aluminum hydroxide. You know where I found it? SEARS! Go figure lol

SEARS???? really?

Thinking of you and your family. You guys sound like troopers, and Abby is lucky to have such good researchers. She must feel very loved! I'll pray and hope with some diet changes and doggy magic she can pull through.

We feel so sad for you and Abby.

May be, and I hope this, we can help you. Last winter, the regular blood-test we let make every year showed us, that Kosmo had a kidney problem. (Creatinin values too high.) The Vet told us, probably this would have been caused by a infection, we had not noticed. We had to feed him with a special kidney diet and he got injections – for a longer time - of a homeopathic Kidney-medicine.
These are homeopathic injections alledged to help the kidneys. They should help regenerate it. Only to be used on the advice of a vet. Produced by "PlantaVet," Bad Waldsee, Germany, and available via international pharmacies, it is called "Renes/Viscum comp. PLV."

After 6 months of these jabs, Kosmos kidney values had normalised and he needed no further diet.

I only found a link in German in Google.

Do you know the funny thing? I'd have taken her even I'd known she was sick. The only difference would have been that I wouldn't have put a bow around her neck and handed her to my kid.

When Mable was 6 months old, an obnoxious vet - her first vet visit - told me that she thought she heard a heart murmur. Four years later, I'm looking at an xray in her loving, wonderful vet's office and he's writing me a referral for a specialist. They confirmed heart failure. Our weekly "tummy drainings" keep the fluids at bay and she ate whatever she wanted and did whatever she wanted. And I grieved. And grieved. Every. Damn. Day. (but not in front of her) She died a few months later on Christmas Day.

I heard the word "heart murmur" - but I didn't HEAR the word at all. This was my dream puppy! How dare that Dr. Brown crap all over my dream?! I'm glad that I completely discounted her diagnosis. Truly understanding what that meant could have robbed me of the wonderful years I did get. In her short life, she truly "rescued" me; a divorce, breast cancer, losing my father to leukemia and my brother to Lou Gehrig's disease....it was an action packed few years, let me tell ya. I couldn't have done any of it without her.

Abby is a marvelous wonderful gift. In more ways than we could even know at this point.

Hang in there. Thanks for sharing your journey. This is going to help someone else.

P.S. I hate Sears - but I'd go there to get dog meds!

Vicaroo1000 I am so sorry for your loss. Oh Christmas Day too! OMG I can't imagine :(

2BullyMama She is the same. She doesn't think she's sick. Her appetite is good, her attitude is better. She bulldoged my son last night. It was the funniest thing! I took pictures. I'm going to post them in the picture section in a minute if you want to see them. When it was over I thought "I should've taken a video!". Oh well, next time. And there WILL be a next time!

Abby has an appointment with one of the doctors of internal medicine at the veterinary hospital in Tinton Falls tomorrow. Abby's vet recommended a canine kidney specialist in NYC but I'm stressed enough, I can't deal with driving in the city. Between the tolls, the traffic and the yellow cabs? You'd all be seeing me on the 6:00 news. They wanted to see her today in Tinton Falls but the final ultrasound report isn't in yet. They need that so we're going tomorrow.

Mom's pacemaker at 11. Vet at 3:30. I'm going to need a BIG drink when this is all over.
