Default Matilda's 1 year check up.

Well, I took Miss Sassy Pants in to see the vet for a check up. She weighs 47.2 pounds. She allout looks good but does have a mild case of Entropion in both eyes. How exactly do they go about fixing this? How much am I gonna worry when they do the surgery?

She is a beauty!! Did they give you lubricating drops? When Vegas's allergies flare up he also gets mild Entropion but his is due strickly from allergies. Does Matilda have allergies? I use the drops when he is extra allergy ridden along with Zyrtec. When his allergies are doing good he has no signs what so ever of entropion.

I think it is a pretty common surgery in Bulldogs, but make sure it is necessary before having it done and make sure the vet has done it before! I say that because Harley had it done back in the '90s and his eyes looked square to me. I know I over reacted, but it turned out it was the first time the vet had done that surgery! She is a pretty girl!

Hi there. yes our regular vet diagnosed Duke with entropian , so we took him to an opthomogolist who confirmed .. he had surgery on both eyes.. he had 119 stiches.. I was a WRECK.. Duke was absolutely fine! he hated his cone ( had to wear for 5 weeks ) but he healed up so nice.. he was just there for a recheck and the surgeon is so happy with how well he healed. its been about a year and a half.. I would get a second opinion.. Dukes was bad.. he developed an ulcer and everything.. also @LucysMum had the surgery also.. We became friends in helping each other recover! feel free to ask any questions and give her big hugs from Duke and I..

If it's mild it may be ok with just some drops .... you say she has tear stains .... do her eyes water a lot??? I'm only asking because maybe she has a very mild allergic reaction to something that is causing both the stains and the entropian??? What food is she on?

Yes, her eyes are constantly watering. A local opthomologist would be doing the surgery. He will double check her first. I have drops I am using on her for now. How long should I use them before I decide to do surgery?? Matilda is raw fed. She has imroved dramatically since switching her. Her only issue is her eyes now.

HRH actually had dry eye causing what seemed like entropian but really wasn't. With the dry eye ointment daily she no longer has the morning "eye boogers" and her eyes just look so much better overall.
