    Default Allergy to meds?

Miila now has interdigital cysts between her toes. This girl is trying to kill me I think. lol. Have had her for what-3 months now? She has been on fromm surf and turf this whole time and no problems. Actually when we got her, between her toes was all puffy. Not red or sore looking but swollen between all her toes. That has gone down until now. She has been on diff meds up until now and with her eye has been using some eye drops that have a sterroid in them I think? Not entirely sure cuz I really only retain a portion of the medical speak. BUT a couple days ago up pops this now. Could it be from the meds? Gosh I do not want to have to switch foods!

Is it the same intensity as when you first brought her home? It may be an allergic rxn from the eye drop but of course i cannot be entirely sure. The steroid in the eye drop if anything helps decrease inflammation. Sorry, i'm of no help there. Also, i think if it was an allergy, she'd be experiencing the skin issues in different parts of her body, not just betw. the toes. Maybe a flareup from her prev. condition...how did you treat that before? just go away on its own w/her improved diet?

No, not the same as when she came to us. All of in between her toes were puffy. I actually thought it was just her cuz it wasnt red or sore looking at all. I didnt worry cuz I figured by getting her on the grain free like the boys are on it would help if anything and it has completely gone down since. Aside from this 1 red part between the toes. The rest are not swollen at all. Vet said it was an allergy and Cutty had gotten them many years ago just for a quick bit then I switched foods and never saw them again to worry about. I just would have thought after 3 months it would have shown up by now if she didnt agree with this food. This morning it is almost disappeared actually and last night it looked so red and sore. Only thing she is doing diff are the drops. I guess I will wait till she is done with them and see how it looks. I hope I dont have to worry about switching foods all over again.

Could you clarify if you are giving her drops or if you stopped the drops? My Lucy's eye specialist has seen improvement in (cysts between the toes) and also anal irritation in dogs using cyclosporin eye drops.

Also, have you tried wiping her paws with clean water, then drying well as much as possible during the day. If that is not possible try doing it before bed. Lucy has food and enviromental allergies and this "extra step" helps her.

She is using eye drops but not sure what the name. This is for a scratch in her eye so it is some kind of steroidal eye drop I think? I do have diff drops she was using before getting her cherry eye surgery but that is not what this is. She will be on these for 1 more week then done so I guess we will know then if that could be it. The cleaning of her toes is something I just started with my malaket wipes so this should hopefully help too. Mainly I want to get rid of the problem if possible rather than treat it. Thank you @LucysMum for your help.

I noticed BabyGirl was licking her paw. Big red flag for me, so I checked in between her toes and sure enough she had an irritation which I know usually a sign of a cyst coming on. I washed her paw with water and Epsom salts and then I sprayed it with Dermachlor K Spray which contains Chlorhexidine and Ketoconazole from my vet. It will usually stop it in time for her.

I can't remember where I heard this, but some people use Preparation H on interdigital cysts. We have yet to try it because Hudson's have actually been relatively well-controlled lately, but it makes sense. Something to perhaps keep in the back of your mind.

The only time Maggie got interdigital cysts is when we tried the Fromm Chicken n Veg and she also got a yeasty face, ear infection and just generally smelt!!! She licked them so much they became infected and we ended up with foot soak, antibiotics and lotion!!
