Default hello from future bully mommy:-)

    Hello all,
I have been bully stalking this forum for almost 3 months now trying to learn everything i can about this super sweet breed. You all are a wealth of knowledge and my family is so excited to hopefuly soon be adding a new family member to our home. We are currently about to move so that has added a little delay in our plans even though we have found the perfect puppy and want to get her now we are not sure and co fortable that is would be best for her. Any advise here would be great. We will be moving vrom oklahoma to (hopefully seattle) hubby finds out tomorrow for sure so that would be a big change for our little girl. Anyone have any experience with this or btdt. I look foreard to hearing your advice on this matter and welcoming us into the ebn family!

If you were just moving across town, I'd say go for it now, but you are moving across the country, I would get set up over there 1st, and then get a puppy. There will be alot of distractions and stress the first few weeks during and after a big move like that, and a young puppy needs a solid routine in the beginning.

Not to mention you need to find an excellent bully vet too just my opinion

to EBN. So glad that you finally decided to join the family!!!

Hmmm ... difficult decision to make. If you love the bully you've chosen then go ahead and follow your heart, if you haven't really "met" her yet then I would put it off for a little while longer. You will be under a lot of stress going through the move so I just think it would be easier for you. The puppy probably wouldn't even notice the change!!

I can't advise which course would be best. I believe, it depends on the personality of the puppy you are interested in. If she is at all timid I wouldn't consider putting her in a soon to be changing situation. If she is outgoing and just seems more interested in what's that, what's this, oh something to chew, she would probably adapt easily.

Good Luck with whatever you choose and with the move!

We have met this little girl about 3 weeks ago before we knew about a possible move and our kids love her already. She will be ready to pick up this weekend but the other concern we have is we will be flying to Seattle. We have moved many times before so that doesn't stress me out. The good thing is once we get there a routine would be easy and quick to set up its the flying I have concerns after reading so much here. She would be a carry on and we have talked about putting a little fan in her crate to keep her cool. We have 2 flights each being about 2 hours with a 1 1/2 hr layover to let her walk around and relieve herself. I think she will be fine e but its must the risk of flying since this breed does not fly well. her breeder is a vet and feels she will be fine and is healthy enough for the flight, so many things to consider...

I haven't flown a bully .... but we did consider it when we decided that Linus was going to be my christmas present last year. We are in Ohio and Linus was in Arizona. In the end my husband and daughter drove to AZ and back to get him. However, at the time we were looking at all our options the way I understood it is that as long as they can travel in the cabin with you then they are ok. It sounds as if she will be small enough to go in one of the specialist carry on crates that fit under the seat. It just depends now on what you feel comfortable doing.

Welcome to EBN and welcome to the Great Pacific Northwest! I have moved with Bulldogs twice, always by car, and they adjust to their new surroundings easily. That said, if I had a choice I would wait until my family and I got settled in before adding a puppy.

We flew Gunny at 8 weeks from Kansas to Seattle and had no issues in the middle of July. I have flown my boxer back and forth from Hawaii. Never any issues. That being said, there are always risks.

Having moved cross country, always with a car full of kids and pets, I see it working either way. If this is the pup you want...then she will be fine. Do you have a house all ready to move into? Adjustments can be stressful for your whole family and our pets will feel any stress you feel. The plane trip will be the easy part. It's how smoothly your transition will be for the humans and that will determine how your pup does. Good Luck!!

    Ohhhhh and WELCOME!!!!

to EBN. Personally, I'd wait til I got settled. There are some very good breeders up where you are going. There WILL be a baby up there just waiting to become your new family member. She'll love you to death for it too. Thanx for joining and I hope you keep us in the loop on the move situation.
