Hello all. My husband and I are on week three of our new bulldog endeavor. We have had a few questions that have already been answered by this website. So, thank you! I am sure we will have more questions, so you will hear from us again!

Our bulldog, Sophie, is 5 years old and in good health. She did get a hot spot behind her ear a few days ago that we caught early. We are treating it with black tea bags and it is working so well! (by the way, I think it was caused by a mosquito bite).

She also has never been properly socialized, so wish us luck with that!

Hi there! Glad you joined us and hope to see some pictures of Sophie :)

Usually hotspots are caused by an allergy I belive. You can clean it with listerine and keep it dry. I learned quick food is the key to everything from coat to poops LOL What are you feeding Sophie?

this site is wonderful. I have also heard that coconut oil is great for hot spots, has anyone else heard about the coconut oil and the benefits, or has first hand knowledge.

:welcome3: so glad to see you have already gotten help with Sophie.

Our Gracie was 3 1/2 when we got her. She wasn't especially socialized either. She is very timid. Although she was very well mannered, so she had been trained.

Even today two years later she could care less about meeting most other dogs. And would prefer never leaving "her room" if she didn't have to. But she loves us like crazy when we are in here.

We are feeding her AvoDerm natural food. It is a chicken and rice mix. The hotspot started almost three weeks after being on that food. I suppose it still could be the culprit.

I read this statement in a dog food allergy magazine article "70 percent of food allergies appear after the dog consumes the same food for over two years" ; so if thats true, the other 30 percent can appear anytime up to 2 years.
