Your Shep was a beautiful dog...and I agree how could anyone not fall in love with Lucy!?! Not possible...

I think it's great your from the UK...my son's favorite bedtime books when he was younger...was Mr.Men. We actually came by purchasing a library bound set NEW from the UK...so where the "US version" states truck...Ours says Lorry [I hope I spelled that correct didn't feel like going and grabbing the book to check myself] Pretty cool stuff!

Lucylambchop I actually BEGGED a seller off the UK Ebay site...who didn't ship to the US...to allow me to bid and pay for shipping. And he accepted my plea. Those books went on vacations and everything with us. [They came in a plastic carrying case with a handle] Mr Muddle, Mr Messy, there are so many I could go on naming...

Yes...I have seen they made the Little Miss...thing is. I want to find a hard bound set of them...not the paperback ones. So I can keep them and have them for...grandchildren. [Though I've YEARS to go before that time...I feel classics as they are, are worth buying a well made book] So we just check those ones out from the library. And I occasionally look at Ebay for hardbound books of Little Miss...

It's funny...you can't buy hardbound copies in the US...even the library doesn't have access to the US versions any longer. And I tried my influence with RIF [Reading is Fundamental which I'm a volunteer with the program in our school district...three times a year we give a child a FREE book for them to keep. And I still couldn't locate any hard bound Mr Men books...crazy!]

But with my love of books...we've a book nook in the downstairs rec room...books in all our bedrooms and in the front room and the sitting room...My husband bought me an eReader for Christmas since I have so many books about...Though it's nice...I still miss the feel of a book in hand. And will still read paper books from time to time.

cadillactaste Chris bought me the I- pad for that very reason cos my books were taking over! theyre stacked in all my cupboards and in boxes in the attic and under the bed
But to be honest its just not the same, I find I dont read quite so much and dont read so enthusiastically on the I-pad, you know when you just cant put a book down cos you need!, just need! to know what happens next!! Its just not the same anymore I really think I might be old fashioned and go back to reading a good old book.

I didnt realise they made hardback versions of the Mr.Men books I bought them all together in a carry case like you when Andrew was little, he's 21 now. and the same with the Little Miss books. I will keep my eyes open though and get them if I see them, then I can post them out to you xx

Lucylambchop My husband "almost" bought me the Ipad...but I've have been having issues with my vision...and that particular unit is back lit. Which causes my eyes to have eye strain. It's a cool unit though...but the eye specialist recommended the eReader due to it was not back lit...and more like looking at a paper page. But I've read many of books since Christmas...It's nice since it fits into my handbag...and I can carry around a library of books. And if I finish...I can grab another by just going into the menu area. But...I enjoy the feeling of turning an actual page.

Yes...it's harder to find the library bound books of Mr Men and Little Miss...The Little Miss wouldn't even need to have a carrying case. As long as they are hard cover. Just due to they tend to hold up better when it's read over and over. I would so be willing to pay for a Little Miss set if it were hard covered!

Our local library don't have the entire set of Mr. Men...which caused frustration for my youngest son. When they are all listed on the back covers as they are. And they can't even ORDER more in to complete the books they have. It's crazy! So I begged and pleaded with the seller in the UK...and he was the nicest man. Even sent me a Christmas Card later on...saying he hoped my son enjoyed them.

The first vacation we took them on...the first day we got in. Cole got sick with the flu...and I think I ended up reading the entire set to him that night...Well worth the money I had in them...my husband...clueless as he was...Though that the entire set and shipping was what I paid for shipping alone... But those books are hands down...KEEPERS!

Now...we're just getting into Lemony Snicket a Series of Unfortunate Events...HARD COVER in a boxed set...I found them for Christmas for him. And was totally EXCITED!!! Again...we're book people.

My oldest...when I was waiting for an item to be shipped...a rare 18th century tangram puzzle carved from mother of pearl. I told him...I had an item stuck in customs...and it may not arrive in time for Christmas. And he said," It's a COOL book isn't it mom"... Um-mmm not quite. But I did have a COOL book to go along with it. So I still ranked on the COOL MOM scale... [My son was taking Mandarin Classes in school and LOVED it thus the Chinese gifts...I also got him a cool Ox thingy... that is is Zodiac sign in Chinese...with his last name carved in chinese script on the bottom so you can actually use it as a stamp.

But...sounds like you and I have a lot in common...two boys...both fans of Mr Men...and love bulldogs...You had your Shep...and I have my Aussie so similar in traits...And our love for a good book in our hand.
