Hey all, I've noticed over the past 2 or 3 weeks that Rocco is constantly licking his paws, usually at night time. I keep telling him no and move them away from his mouth but he goes back to it. Mainly the front ones. I'm nervous he'll lick them to the point of losing hair or really irritating them so I'd like to address it before that happens. I read it could be allergies? Nothing has changed for him still eating the same fromms as always and filtered water. Anybody have any experience with this or know what would cause him to do this? Thanks in advance!

Oh yes, going through this right now..
It's probably allergies. Like 2BullyMama said, try the benadryl.

Good luck, Matt. I'm really hoping it's just seasonal and will clear up in a month or so.

I agree, allergies, try washing his paws off when he comes in from outside and some Benedryl. Some people have put socks on their bullies feet to keep them from licking them.

If it is not likely allergies or tender paws has anything changed recently? Sometimes excessive paw licking can mean anxiety and will pass when the situation is not creating any more stress. Try distraction with interesting chew toys if everything else has been ruled out. I learned Buster liked to really chew down on his rubber bone before bed. He stopped licking his paws when he was able to have a good long session with his green rubber chew toy bone.

Hey! It's going good i miss you guys! I'm getting a new computer at work tomorrow so i might be able to get on more again on my down time throughout the day. My current one has been terrible the past few months!

Two regular benadryl? Is it not too much for him? I'll start wiping his paws as well. I hope it passes soon!

Hi Matt, licking paws is definitely a sign of allergies, but since food hasn't changed, it's more than likely Environmental allergies. Everyone has been suffering with itchy watery eyes, sneezing, and runny nose. Everyone has given you great advice already, Benadryl, wiping paws, and once air conditioners are on he should get some relief. Hope he feels better soon.

would someone be able to tell me the ingredients in your Benadryl so I can check if ours here is the same, as Claratyne is different here to there just want to make sure it is still safe for Ftse to have ours.

Matt, I took Elmo to the Vet today for his Wellness Check-up, He has been licking his front paws for the past week. I take Elmo to a Bulldog Specialist Vet. He sent me home with a spray called PhytoVet CK Spray, it is an antiseptic spray, just spray on a cotton ball and wipe on his paws, three times a day until itching stops. You can go to the web site to see the spray. wwwhenryscheinvet.com Elmo weighed 59.4lbs. Dr. Weaver wants Elmo to loose 5lbs. Hope the info. on the spray helps you, call your Vet and ask him or her about this.
