I have a 5 month old pup I got him only a few weeks ago when I first brought him home he only had accidents in his kennel every now and then but for the last week it has been every single night and I have tried a number of things including taking away his water 2 hours before bed, making sure he is tired, making sure he goes pee before bed etc. He goes out for his last pee at midnight and wakes up at 8:00am he has peed every night I am about to wake him up in the middle of the night to go pee if this continues has anyone else had this problem this is our first English bulldog and not sure if this is common for them. His crate is a 24" and he is 30lbs he has enough room to stand up and to turn around but when he pees he lays right in it.

Also he still has very frequent accidents in the house if I am not on him to go outside every 20 minutes which I feel is a lot for a 5 month old dog

Lastly he has an inverted tail and is going in next week to have his tail docked

:hiya: welcome!! Glad you joined us! This is horrible for me and Brutus!! He was so stubborn with potty training! My Chanel (pit bull) was sooooo easy!! I wouldn't restrict water but maybe go back to basis s for a little while! We had to 4 x  lol It was a lot of work for Brutus! Lol Take him out before and after meals and an hr after play time! Adjusted to what works for you.. Keep him close to you to watch for signs (smelling, pacing) those were some of Brutus's signs. Praise praise give him treats once he has gone to let him know it was good! Brutus is very food motivated as I know bullies usually are lol Wishing you luck! Others will be by with more advice :) Would love to see some pictures :2thumbs:

Do you know his history? Was he "potty" trained before you got him? If not, you will have to start as if he is a young pup. I think he still needs to get up at least once during the night, at his age. Many people recommend having him in a bare crate, as some will pee on their bedding. If he was a "kennel dog" he probably learned to go in crate and will have to be trained not to. With your questions, it helps to know the dog's history. By the way :welcome4: to EBN!!
If it works to take him out every 20 minutes-that may be what it takes until he learns about his new home-and training.

He was crate trained when I got him from the breeder she said he never had accidents in his crate at night she did however say he was not fully house trained when I got him she would put him in and out of his crate during the day with lots of supervised playtime in between.

I could try the bare crate thing but wouldn't he be uncomfortable?

Well, sometimes they just don't appreciate the comforts. Many of them will grow out of the peeing in their crates/on bedding. But some just don't/why is a ?
I myself would try taking him out during the night. If that doesn't work-try taking the bedding away. As for daytime, When young dogs play-usually they will have to pee, after playing. Each time he pees outside-cheer for him and give him a treat and tell him what a good boy he is. Bullies love to eat, and that is how I trained all of mine. He is a handsome boy! Stick with it, and be patient. He will learn! Some times the "previous" owner doesn't always tell it all.

A lot of dogs, both male and female, like to mark their bedding. It's their way of saying "mine".

If he's having a lot of accidents too you make want to check his urine at the vet to be sure he doesn't have a UTI, which can also cause much if what you are describing.

He's sure a doll!! You all will be in our thoughts during surgery next week.

Yes, I should have mentioned this as a possibility, if he is peeing VERY often-more than seems normal. My oops.
