All the trainers local to me are over 2 or more hours away so it would be very costly to get them to come and stay here several times a week. I have incorporated a lot of what he has told me on phone and it's working a lot. I still want her to go though.she needs this

Best of luck... I will keep praying things work out and Gretchen comes around!! Please keep posted

I'm trying not to make this sound insensitive or harsh. But, I can't be sure how to put it but just to put it plainly (English is only my 3rd language). From what I understand in your OP (I may not have the full understanding of the situation), I think you need the training as much as - if not more than - Gretchen does.

Bulldogs are very smart dogs. I can see them being the most obedient dog with somebody they see as "master" and recognize an opportunity to rule the roost with somebody they see as weaker. Most dogs recognize their place even with spoiling. Some dogs, and I think Gretchen is one of these, sees themselves as the boss of you and spoiling reinforces it. In my opinion, it would be better if you yourself go through the training on how to be very confident, very consistent, and not fear getting bit by your dog. It can be a tough thing to do especially if your natural personality is not the Type-A gentle-but-firm boss range (tough love). But, it can be done with dedication.

Hope everything works out for the best.

Thanks makes me feel good to know I'm trying hard to help her . I love her and it makes me sad each day to have to deal with this behavior and for her to have to as well. It all stems from past and her inability to trust and allow me to be the pack leader not her.
