How often should I switch protein? And should I switch to one protein or should I mix 2 or 3 different protein in one meal plans. Thanks

It's better at beginning to do one protein at a time for about a month to observe how your dog reacts- ie. if he throws up more often than usual, starts licking feet, or gets an ear infection, or hot spots, that's not a good protein. Once you know which proteins are good, it doesn't really matter how you rotate them, except not more than a month of one protein at a time, but for convenience sake I wouldn't bother mixing more than one protein in a meal. I tend to rotate proteins each meal, but that's easy with me since I buy them in one pound chubs.

If you don't buy the commercial frozen raw food that's a complete meal, but are sticking with the prey model one that's just muscle, organs and bone,( where you get more value for your money as helsonwheels mentioned ) then make sure you add sea kelp and fish oil to make it complete. And you can supplement with some steamed vegetables. Fruit is optional since some dogs get yeast if you give them too much sugar, so give that sparingly if your dog tends to be yeasty.

Like helsonwheels said, you should keep the food frozen till about 24 hr before use, then thaw it out in the fridge. It should be stored frozen at all times before that 24 hr period, unless you semi thaw in fridge for a few hours, cut it up, then throw back in freezer, like I do. I would only buy a 30 pound piece if you're using power tools to cut it up into smaller pieces since that would be tough to semi thaw such a large piece. If you have a 50 pound dog, you should be roughly serving a half pound twice daily, or slightly more.

Also, try to stay away from chicken as a protein, even though it's the cheapest, since a lot of bulldogs are allergic to it. Duck and rabbit tend to be the least allergenic, but you can try experimenting with pork, bison, beef, turkey, and lamb. I don't trust venison, since some deer have wasting disease.

This is what I feed my dogs n no you can’t order it as it’s only in Alberta. But check the ratio %

Read each link. I bet you’ll become a pro n do it yourself. :) it looks a lot but it’s very simple n a lot less expensive if than a higher quality kibble.

RawFed K9 is a place you can order from online and they do free shipping. Reasonable prices as well. It’s pretty model.
