In August we had to say goodbye to our ten year old boxer Lily. The next week we adopted Jack from the SPCA. He was found in April, having been hit by a car, with a bad hip. SPCA had his hip fixed surgically and he spent some time in foster care recovering. Then we found him at SPCA. I've always had boxers and bulldogs so he's a new type of guy for me. We can't believe how wonderful he is!! At first we thought he was perfect, now he's just "pretty perfect" because he's a terrible food thief! But he's about 2 yrs old, loves other dogs, very gentle with kids, walks great on a leash. A couple of weeks after we got Jack is when we got Winnie (the demon  dog) and that's how he became also known as Saint Jack! He puts up with All Winnie's rough play and biting, so he must be a saint!

We got some bad news about Jack--it just makes me sick! He tested negative for heartworms in April at the shelter. I had him retested last month and he tested positive! He's had such a rough time already, I just hate that he's going to have to go through the heartworm treatment. Has anyone here gone through the treatment? It will be terrible having to keep him crated for a couple of months--especially with Winnie. They play all the time now. I am so dreading this treatment and just hope and pray that he gets through it all right.

Anyway here are are some pics of Jack (and Winnie):

What a beautiful boy and girl, like they're made for each other.

Their are new treatments and new meds coming out all of the time for heartworms and I hope and pray Jack will recover completely, he really really is a good looker. Great pictures.

First of all, condolences on your beloved Lily… I have a 10 year old boxer Roxie that I absolutely adore. They are amazing dogs and get along so well w/bullies...

Your pics are adorable, especially that last one of them sleeping together!!! I have NO experience w/heartworms but from what I understand it's very treatable nowadays. I wish your little guy the best of luck!!!
