The tank looks AWESOME! Most of your cichlids are aggressive, but hopefully once they claim their 'territory' they will get along great.

Are you testing the water daily? Since it is a new tank you may need to change 1/4 of the water everyday for about 3 weeks until your nitrite/nitrate/ammonia cycles out. I have had cichlids for about oh, 16 years now, so if you have any questions please ask. I used to work at a Aquatics store, but this was a LONG time ago so I don't remember everything.

Here is a picture of my only tank I have now. It is a 60 gallon. We used to have like 11 aquariums, and we bred frontosas and electric yellows & blues. But after having children we had to downsize. I will admit I don't clean my tank very often anymore..... I am a bad fish mommie.... :bust:

Yeah I have been testing the water every
other day or so. Out PH is 7.8 - 8, and so far there is
very little ammonia. I will be doing about a 20%
water change tomorrow. Wouldn't be doing it for
another week but I leave to go to work in Pa for the
next few weeks. So want to do it so its not bad
when I get back.

I'm pretty sure we are going to get a new tank sometime this year.
We want to get at least a 90 gallon if not bigger.

bfletch13 .... your tank looks nice. I know nothing about ciclids but your tank looks to be well cared for. LariP and I are VERY into fancy goldfish; breed, raise, and show them. Lari is secretary of the American Goldfish Assoc. and we go to several shows each year. We also raise and show some koi. I think we have about 15 tanks set up right now, largest is 1000 gallons in the basement. Needless to say we love it... lol

BruceP I the thread on your gold fish. They are awesome.
This is our first venture with cichlids. Before we had just your
run of the mill Petco fish. So far we are really excited about
these cichlids. They will even play with us when we come to
the tank.

Really beautiful!! Now are those salt water? Seems like the prettiest fish are salt water. I know NOTHING about them. I tried to have a tank years ago and it was a disaster! I got several angel fish and the next morning they were floating. Took them back and they were replaced, next morning they were all floating. I took them back. We did this everyday til I finally gave up, and haven't tried it since.

i love fish and had a great time raising cichlids especially since it was easy to maintain our ph levels for our water here in the tx panhandle just right for them...so much that each pair of cichs i had always had fry which helped me with getting more equipment for tanks as i traded the fry for stuff from some of the fish stores around me. I no longer keep tanks but do have the tanks available if i decide to get back into them once again

kiss1069 I would love to be able to trade some of our fish to the fish
stores for equipment. I want a 110 gallon tank next. We keep our Ph right
at 8. Hopefully we will get some young one soon.
