UPDATE 10/15/14: Ryleigh went to an orthopedic vet in September and had her legs re-evaluated and x-rayed. It turns out Little Miss No Knees HAS knees, afterall. The vet feels the initial X-rays were overexposed and due to the large amount of cartilage in puppies - the X-rays from her 7-8 week visit were useless. She does have some mild-moderate hip dysplasia in her left hip with some extra cartilage in her left knee that was causing some of the issues she was having when she was walking. As she has gotten older, her legs don't seem to bother her much and, as the vet said, she's just like any other "normal" bulldog and he suspects she could live a very normal bulldog life. Such good news for her! She's made great strides in potty training and only really has accidents in her crate on occasion. She will go to the door when she has to go. She loves to play play play and would do well in a home with other dogs. She just LOVES everyone and would prefer a home with a fenced in yard to run and play - if she sees or hears anyone near by she tends to want to run off to see them with her butt wiggling a mile a minute. She's going to make a WONDERFUL addition to a deserving home!
This little lady came to us from a breeder surrender. She was born with deformities causing her to not be able to walk very well. She gets around but struggles after playing too much. We anticipate as she gets bigger, this will get worse. She was born without patellas and her hips are also bad. She will be have repeat X-rays done in 2 months to see how she is progressing in terms of development and to see if surgery is an option to correct it or if she'll be wheel-chair bound. She's a sweet and sassy little diva.
Update: I've been adopted!
