Please meet Tonka! He is a white and brindle English bulldog, estimated to be around 5 years old. Tonka came to us from a shelter where he was taken in as a stray. He looked as though he had lived quite a rough life prior to coming to us – he was filthy and very underweight. Despite his past, this boy has lots of love to give! He adores any attention and affection he can get, which you can see by his little tail wagging excitedly as soon as you walk into the room. He loves cuddling on the couch and just being near people. He is very laid-back and doesn’t play much. He enjoys walks, but does tire quickly.
Tonka is very food-driven. He will get into the trash if left unsupervised, as this was likely his means of survival while living as a stray. He has also learned how to open and tip the container where his food is kept. Therefore, it is recommended that trash cans and food containers are not accessible to him.
Tonka came to us with severe entropian in his right eye that has required multiple surgeries to correct. He will need to be on medicated eye drops and artificial tears twice a day for the rest of his life. He can be uneasy about the application of his drops, so his adopter must be comfortable with this process.
Tonka does not do well with other dogs, and will need to be an only dog in the home. He has not been tested around cats. Because he was pulled from a shelter and we are not aware of his past, Tonka will not be adopted to a home with children under the age of 8.
