  • Good afternoon,
My name is Chris and my EB is Chop. He is a 13 month old male who I purchased from a breeder in The Netherlands. I am in the military and currently stationed overseas in Italy. We will be returning to the states next spring and I am interested in learning about any EB clubs that can assist me in showing.

I have been taking Chop to European dog shows and he has done rather well. Although always in the ā€œjunior classā€, he has won events such as Best Junior in Show, Best Junior in Class, and a multiple of runner ups titles.

I have been showing for about 2 years now but feel I am not ā€˜up-to-speedā€™ with the American rules, etiquette, doā€™s/donā€™ts, etc. As such, I am looking for an EB group or ā€˜mentorā€™ to assist Chop and I in the American show-circuit. Any info is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Chris

She is gorgeous! I can see the trust building in her eyes. Be patient, be calm, I know she will come around!
I just loved on him, found EBN (you'll learn so much here), put him on a
better food and just enjoyed him...and him, me. He didn't know how to
play at all! He didn't have any interest in toys or even bones!! I had to
teach him all this, he acted as if he'd get 'in trouble'...it was so sad. It
took about 4 mo's before he'd chew on a toy or a bone.

Bullies are very smart, they think things thru, THEY decide, not us!

They are very food motivated, when you've gained trust start training
w/bits of her kibble. Right now, when she does anything you've asked
her to do, give her a kibble & quiet, calm praise. Ignore bad behavor
after sharply & immediately disagreeing w/it but no punishment just
yet...walk away & ignore her right now. Once she's really settles in &
feels comfortable there's plenty of time for training & you'll have had
time to read articles on here and ask your questions.
Hi Michelle! It took Brutus about 3 months to fully trust me but he was very
laid back, it might take longer w/Gretchen. I'd never had a bully, I'd taken
care of son's gf's bully (they dated for 3 yrs) when they went out of town but
found out, it's different owning one...they are different from other breeds.

I was pushing Brutus too soon and he wasn't ready so feeling threatened, he
growled and showed teeth...scared me so bad! When I realized how scared
    he was (I had no idea, he'd been w/me 3 mo's & been loved on w/kindness),
then I just sat beside him & bawled for his past treatment & abandonments.

Then I just backed off, treated him gently & calmly, talked in a soft, low voice,
didn't move suddenly, etc and just chilled w/him. I gave him time to relax and
time to process, MY HOME was different & I was different from previous owners.
