  • I am so happy he is doing better. What a relief. It will be a learning experience for a month or two. Even if you decide to stick with the more expensive enzymes, he may still keep up with the runny poos, either way I would get the vet to put him on the Metro. Any new pics?
he might be having a break through of SIBO. I would see if the vet will give you some Metronidizol for now and see what it does. Also email Diane a message, she may have some insight, a little more, little less etc....they are the same exact thing as Rx ( I have a friend who works for the company!) the ratios might just be off a little.
I am so happy for Meatball. EPI research team has done a lot to make sure the food/enzyme ratio is correct. I would try to increase to the 1tea per 1C of food, that very well may be the deciding factor on the poo. Let me know if you need anything.
Get him on a grain-free, high quality food. epi4dogs.com/dogfoodoptions.htm. this page is wonderful for food information. you will want to keep it under 4% fiber, sweet potato is best and you might want to add some pumpkin at first.

The most difficult thing is to juggle and figure out what is best for Meatball. You know he has EPI and needs the enzymes. Find out about B-12, if that is okay then start feeding him accordingly. Now if he is still gassy and soft and you know his B-12 is fine, he may have SIBO (small intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) that can be treated with a 45 day round of Flagyl. If your vet isn't keen on it, let me know. Some Vets are not at all supportive with EPI dogs needs. Once you juggle it to a good food, good ratio etc....then you can start adding treated treats etc.... But very slowly.

I hope this answered your questions. I am so happy for you and him. That is so awesome. Are you on Facebook? Look me up Leslie Sauve Forhan. there is an EPI page as well.
I am so excited he is getting better. Okay here are the rules, don't listen to your vet about how to feed and what to feed. They still no very very little. epi4dogs.com is a site that even the Vets refer too!!!! They have a Vet on board that is doing all the research at Clemson.

All food, even treats (in the future) need to be treated with the enzymes. It is the enzymes that makes the digestion possible. It is to be 1 teaspoon for every cup you feed at feeding time. Moisten the kibble just enough to let the enzymes adhere to the food, so mix well. If you want to feed 3 times a day, that is fine. In fact they recommend to do more/smaller meals. I am not home during the day, so I have to do just 2. You will want to look at his test results. Not only do you have to worry about EPI, but you have to worry about B-12. If that is low, you will need to get him on shots for that as well. Bella doesn't have that issue (knock on wood)
Let me know how he did his first day on enzymes. Bella's poop was perfect the very next day. It took a couple extra days for her to act like a puppy again. Poor little man, he will soon realize he is getting better.
you have me in tears. Thank God you found out. Okay, epi4dogs.com is the resource site. enzymediane.com is the OTC enzyme site. You would want to get the US 6x powder, that is closest to the Viocase the vet gives. You can get 2Kilos cheaper than the vet and that will most likely last over 6 months. It is 1teaspoon for every cup of food. Food needs to be grain-free, mix well before feeding. No treats etc with out treatment of enzymes, so don't until Meatball is stable. If you need anything, call 904-703-3202.
Welcome, I hate that you have to find us on these terms. I too found EBN due to Bella's condition. Once diagnosed I was on a mission to search for others with this issue. If you need anything, please let me know. epi4dogs.com has wonderful information
